@mrrayner84575 жыл бұрын
I'm yet to ride either, But next year when my wife and I do Disney and Sea World, I will be having a day to myself in Busch Gardens Tampa. At present, my favourite B&Ms are Nemesis at Alton Towers and Hulk at IoA, but seeing as the rest of the line out is Dragon Challenge Red at IoA, Oblivion and Galactica at Alton Towers they are bound to stand out. My body is ready for 6 new B&M credits, as well as my first 2 Premier Rides and possibly my first RMC if I don't get to Energylandia in Poland or Walibi Holland before October 2020.

My B&M invert ranking... The top 4 are SUPER close... 1. Banshee, 2. Montu, 3. Afterburn, 4. Silver Bullet (only acceptable cobra roll on an invert), 5. Batman clones, 6. Talon, 7. Great Bear (yawn), 8. Raptor (cobra roll and brake run suck), 9. Alpengheist (cobra roll fucking sucks! plus the ending is weak)

6:31 I grew up in Tampa and had season passes in the late 90s and early 00s, and I can vouch that the non-trimmed mid-course was amazing. When I rode it again in 2016 for the first time 10 years I was somewhat annoyed by how significantly it is trimmed at that spot. Regardless, Montu is still my favorite coaster without question. Also, for the first few years after the ride opened, there were LIVE GATORS in the pen just below track at 2:07 as you left the station. I believe they had to remove them in 1999 or 2000 when the gators outgrew the pen.

I've ridden both Montu and Nemesis, and honestly, Montu is better. I think Nemesis is better themed and has a cooler location, being literally in the ground, but Montu overall has stronger elements and is a longer ride. Though that being said, Nemesis is equal to Montu in intensity right after the first corkscrew, as going through that helix after and into the zero - g is one of the best combinations of elements I've ever experienced. They are both great rides, but yes, I do agree with you that Montu is the best invert, since more or less when Nemesis ends, Montu is halfway done.

We decided to challenge ourselves this one day and rode this thing 15 times in a row, Gwazi lion 7 times, and tiger 7 times, the log flume which I can not remember the name of to save my life like 5 times, and Sheikra 17 times in a row. This was my first real coaster. I’ve been to the park several time before but never went on any of the big coasters. Then I went here on a middle school orchestra trip and everybody went on Montu and my conductor told me to come with them. I was cursing the whole way up but when we went down the first drop all my fear of roller coasters went right out the window and I magically immediately understood why coasters are great and haven’t been fearful of anything since.

The winch is there to secure a train to the brake platform while an evac is carried out. If there was something that caused the brakes to release during a situation where passengers might not be restrained properly,well...that would be bad. The run isn't perfectly flat, you see. It's angled downhill slightly so that even without a kick from the drive tires the train will roll into the drop and return to station. With that in mind BGT mandates any vehicle close to the edge of a drop be hooked up to a winch to keep it from budging even an inch.
@ElToroRyan5 жыл бұрын
Ah okay I’m a little confused. Wouldn’t the winch have to be hooked to the back of the train to prevent it from rolling forward? Rather than in front of it
@phil.s.33624 жыл бұрын
I don't know, but this Sounds wrong. The mid course brake run is angled on every coaster, because there are no Tires, chains or powered parts in general. The brakes can't open because the closed Position is the normal one. If something's wrong they will close.

I was in BG Tampa in 2000 and I enjoyed Montu much more than Raptor. The tunnels and ravines it goes in gives it that “WOW” effect. Monti looks really great, sadly I will not get to BG Tampa in the foreseeable future. I love B&M Inverts and the layout on this looks bonkers. B&M tends to put MCBRs up really high, I guess so they don't have to trim that much. If a train ever has to stop due to the blocks, it will go through the rest of the layout faster afterwards. Especially important after an evacuation. Sometimes empty trains valley after being released from the MCBR after a full ride stoppage and evacuation.

When I was a kid, I was deathly afraid of rollercoasters. We'd go to Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, Six Flags, Paramounts parks, etc, and I was always scared. I'm older, but I haven't been to any intense theme parks, but I guess I'll have to see if I've outgrown that fear. I look now, and I kind of feel like I've missed out on a lot. I'm in my late 20s now, so I guess it's better late than never! We'll see!

The batwing was snappy especially since we were front row, me and my dad were the one’s getting dragged into the elements 😂 and every element was so compact and close to the terrain, so we could see it all happen in front of us

I was very pleasantly surprised. It's been 11 years since I've been but it is still one of my favorite coasters I've ever ridden on. It's intense, but manageable. I think for example Manta if I'm remembering correctly, over at Sea World.. That one was intense and incredibly painful. I thought it was insanely fun but there were times on the coaster I was questioning my insanity and like you said, what I was doing to my body hahahah. The ride picture we got from it was hysterical though. edit: also Mako at Sea World Orlando was nuts. They really stepped it up with those two.
