@@csgowoes6319 i wouldnt give him too much credit. I learned that Rob adopted this from something called the devils galop. A widely used song for chase scenes. He definitely made significant changes though. Like the badass solo.

@@killingtime4444 musician here: we all "steal" from somebody else. It's called inspiration. You hear a melody you like, keep it in your mind, go home and make something out of it. Trust me, this is the way the best tracks you ever heard were born.

@@killingtime4444 Pretty much all legendary 8-bit musicians picked bits and pieces from existing melodies. Old game industry was quite a crazy environment. They usually had incredibly short time to come up with the game music - they might get a call on Friday that somebody needs a new track by Monday. Nobody had time to spend weeks composing original pieces, especially as you were often paid very little and sometimes the game developer screwed you over and you got nothing at all.

This track couldn't be meant just for a videogame. It should be played live in all the stages around the world.

You can come pretty close if you find performances of "Devil's Galop" composed by Charles Williams (spelled that way because it's a type of dance). Rob Hubbard heavily referenced it when he created the Monty theme. :3

So, I mean, even if he ported some of his music to the NES, I wouldn't exactly call him an NES composer. At least not a primarily NES composer like Koji Kondo or Manami Matsume.
