Monuments of Mars Volume 2 any% -

Monuments of Mars Volume 2: The Pyramid freeware version, DOSBox version 0.74.3 at auto (3000) cycles. Game is low-tech enough that default cycles are sufficient for play.
Start time is the first fully-rendered frame of gameplay (game tiles and character are present on screen); end time is the first frame of screen-flashing immediately preceding the "CONGRATULATIONS!" message.
Probably the hardest run of the four, as many levels have to be played extremely well to be optimal. Whenever you start up the game, the acid drops fall in the same positions at the same time, so if you're moving at the same pace then that becomes 100% consistent, and thankfully it works in the run's favor. The movement in levels 13 and 14 are also very tricky, but it comes out really nicely when successful. The level 12 misstep is unfortunate but it's hard to get that right first try (considering you instantly switch between levels) and 17 lost a couple seconds on a bad jump, but the rest went well.

In some ways. I wonder if the yorps were inspired by this. And of course Replogle and Miller worked at Apogee, which published the shareware Keen games.
