There is also "The Hunter". This is the "broke mentality" guy that will hold up the group, looking for his ball in the woods, weeds or water. He brings his retrieval tool in his bag and will tell you "war stories" about the amount of Pro V's he has found while bragging about the fact that he hasn't paid for a golf ball since Golden Ram days. And, if he finds a "honey hole", he'll tell you to go ahead and play on, as he pulls his mesh laundry bag out of his golf bag. He's also the guy that pulls out a range ball to fly over the water hazard despite having 1000 balls in a bucket back home. This is in fact, my Dad, yet every two years he will drop $500 on the latest driver technology.

2 of us played this fancy course in Invermere BC (Greywolf) and we got paired up with this guy and his wife. We usually play the blue tees (6500) and the dude says I'm playing the black tees. It was only 6750 so we thought sure why not. This guy couldn't break 100 if you held a gun to his head. He sprayed his drives all over the map so after a couple of holes me and my buddy stopped helping him look for his ball. We would hit our approach shots then drive up to the green and wait for him. I think his name was Chad.

There's the guy that walks up and asks to join, sees your bag tag, and STILL offers to give you a stroke, a dollar a hole. I went par, birdie, birdie, winning 1, 2, and 4 dollars (doubling up). The last hole, the 18th, I lipped out a ten foot eagle putt, on a 526 yard par five. I hit a 275 yard drive, and the sweetest 3-wood you ever saw. Every bit of 250 yards. He gave me a stroke, for a 3...and would have had to get an albatross to beat me. I shot 77 that day, and I was STEAMING mad, at his disrespect. I invited him back for the next Saturday - I told him I could use the money! Never, ever saw him again on my home course.
