Thanks for doing NAMM coverage. It has been missed the past few years! Mooer has a great lineup this year.

Considering the Variax came out nearly 20 years ago, there hasn't been a lot of innovation in this space since.

I love that it is just the guitar. Put your presets in, and you don't need to fiddle with anything, just grab the guitar and you are good to go. As a one-guitar-guitarist who doesn't have a setup and plays into headphones in my bedroom az home, it's just right for me, and i ordered one a couple days ago.

As with everything, I think the future will continue to be having both integrated and modular options. There are always cases where it is worth giving up some flexibility for convenience, but there are also always cases where you want the flexibility of modular. Even if you’re running all VSTs in a laptop (or some future equivalent), there will be times when you want to mix-and-match guitars and computer platforms or have to kludge something to workaround interop challenges.

Yeah, I’ve been checking out a lot of videos on this guitar and the Gtrs P 900 is the pro level one with steel fret, maple roasted neck, locking tuners. It’s only a little bit more. The GTRS S801 is pro too and the S800 is not but all modeling is the same tones on all. It is so impressive I suggest you go and watch reviews on this. this blows me away, because I have ant modelers Ones you can busk with, and I’m telling you this goes above and beyond those by a mile I would love to see you guys do a deeper dive on this in your your shop because this really deserves a deeper dive. It is incredible what they can do.

Yep, sadly, I have a Mooer GE200 and their last update was almost a year and a Half ago.
@MarcCoteMusic9 ай бұрын
@@rudicci - I have a Mooer GE200 and I feel it's kind of pointless creating updates for it. They took it about as far as it can go and that's that. I mean, are you bothered that your JCM800 hasn't had a firmware update? Or your Fender Twin Reverb? Personally, I think they had a great sounding product that was about as good as most in the market when it came out... and it still sounds great. That said, I do wish it was more repairable... one of my footswitches is kind of wonky and since it's not an old-school mechanical switch I can't replace it.
@rudicci9 ай бұрын
@@MarcCoteMusic I think you are missing the point a bit. That's the whole thing. The idea behind CPU/Cloud powered boards is that you shouldn't get limited support when you are still running the same product family. Back in the day, my Line 6 POD got updates until they moved to the Helix family, and my Helix still gets new things added. You cannot tell me that you are going to cut support for your best selling entry point for a lot of your customers, while not refreshing the line up. Keep in mind I love the little guy and I got great sounds out of it, but things like not having a Vol/Exp pedal block to move around that could be solved with a patch are baffling.
@MarcCoteMusic9 ай бұрын
@@rudicci - You've made a good point about the movable vol block and other 'obvious' improvements. I also had the Pod bean (V2). I don't know if I ever updated it. I just played it until I got something I liked more at which point I shelved the Pod until I sold it about 4 years ago. I guess I don't think too much about updates because every couple or three years I'm getting something new. I know... it's a bad habit.

@@MarcCoteMusic You are a blessed guy my brother. Keep it up. I like Mooer. It seems like an easy bet to recommend to any beginner. They just need to nail down that support part.

What happens if the company goes out of business? Who is going to maintain the app to make sure it works with every OS update?
@zoomzoom39509 ай бұрын
I got the Prime P1 and F4 footswitch, as soon as I got it I thought, why don't they just put it all in the footswitch, and I posted that idea everywhere I go online... ...then I got the P2 which works with the F4; now I ordered the S1. Combined with a stereo powered wedge (or in-ears), wireless guitar system, and a USB charger...it's the easiest load in/out for live use. S1 is less than many pedals. I like my guitars, so really not interested in the GTRS with the modeler built in. The S1 just needs an expression pedal input, maybe the S2 will have it, and I'll buy that too! 😎

Just because an app or a device isn't updated doesn't mean it stops working. I have Positive Grid JamUp Pro running on two iPod Touch and two iPad Mini on iOS 6, 7 & 8. Haven't been updated in many years, obviously. Everything still works and sounds great.
