Mooer preamp live & NUX Cerberus. Affordable great direct tones!

Hey all.
In this video I pair the NUX Cerberus with the Mooer Preamp live and demonstrate how using MIDI PC commands from either device you can create a really powerful amp modeling and effects switching system for live or studio use.
The Cerberus’ analog boost, drive and distortion section work really well in front of the Preamp Live’s amp modeling if you want to go down the one amp and pedals route but the MIDI connectivity between them he two allows you to setup a different amp / cab / mic combination for any preset combinations of effects you want to use on any patch on the Cerberus.
It’s almost like an affordable Helix style system but with absolutely no screens and very tweakable on the fly. It’s very impressive.
One very notable point is not only can you recall selections of effects on and off on the Cerberus with a MIDI command from the preamp live but you can also recall specific settings within those presets. It’s so useful.
All in all a very powerful combination. One complaint is maybe the lack of pitch, compressor and fuzz effects on the Cerberus but at this price I think that’s unfair.
A really great pairing.

Hey Vince. Thx for the comment. Yeah the Cerberus really is excellent. I actually looked at that flamma preamp. Looks pretty decent. How are you finding it? You can turn if the speaker sim right? Hey. Thx for the comment. I didn’t program it. Every time you select a patch it sends that specific program change to the Cerberus. They escalate by 1 every time you go up a patch. So the key is to plan your Cerberus patches to match what amp you are using in the preamp live. I don’t have either unit anymore so I can’t make that vid unfortunately

@@TheGuitarEffect Yeah, I'll be using my Mooer Preamp Live to send changes. Hit pretty much works except it doesn't correspond with the first footswitch of the MPL to the preset in a bank in the HX Effects.

Hey. If I were using the HX effects with the preamp live I would absolutely positively use the HX effects to recall presets on the Mooer. The HX has excellent MIDI implementation. Also if you find the presets are 1 digit off from unit to unit just use PC change 2 to call up program 1 on the lower number device

Hey Alessandro. You definitely could send midi from the preamp live to the MS3. But to be honest it irks much make more sense to send the midi from the MS3 to the preamp live. Mainly because if the advanced switching capabilities of the MS3

Hey. Thx for the comment. Glad you liked the video. I’ve never tried the GT1000. Looks great though! The Cerberus sends a PC message every time you hit a preset. He number of that message is preset to the same number on the GT1000. So preset 1 on the Cerberus would select preset 1 on the gt1000. 2=2 3=3 4=4 etc.

Love the configuration. Of course love the sound of preamp live. Is there any other guitar rig similar to Cerberus but smaller. I mean something that only has modulation, reverb, delay, chorus?

Hey Sebastian. Thx for the comment. So if you wanted to be able to do that with Midi from the preamp live (change presets on the multieffects every time you changed the amp preset in the preamp live) I’d recommend a used line6 M9. Or f you want to do it with new gear you could try the plethora X3.

@@TheGuitarEffect the analog one is from crazy tub circuit, the sidekick. The digital but not less effective is from Zoom, multistomp ms-70cdr also the 50cdr are good option. The only issue I found with digital is the current consumption.

Ah yeah I’m aware of the multistomps. They’re great. Our bass player used the bass one as a Swiss Army knife on his small board. I’ll check hit the sidekick. Sounds interesting

Hey. Thx for the comment. I’d be adding a whammy to it myself and that’s all I’d need. Even then that would be for one song. It’s an incredible little rig. The only thing it needs is more presets and a display and I could use it for fly gigs which I don’t currently have. Everything I have is too large or heavy.
