Thanks yeah, I got spoilered massively. Btw, the engine is tilted not for the 50/50 distribution, but for a perfect distribution of weight from left to right ;) So if it was in horizontally, it would way more on one side then the other, to fix that, they tilt it slightly so that the center of mass goes back to the the center of the car ;)

I got mine last November. It's already been tracked once. Getting Dunlop Star Spec II this week. Already has SS brake lines, PMU Pads front and rear. Engine is stock except for a CTE Intake. How did i only just get the notification for this? anyway, I think my favourite would be an old TVR or Triumph for the classic 6 cylinder noise. for performance, id probably go for a new tvr. i know how good the s2k is, i know there are far better handling roadsters than a tvr tuscan but i love the sound, love the looks and love the interior. ìf i had to pick a competitor for the s2k, id just go with marty on the mx5. i personally prefer the looks of them, all but one of the generations, i also think they feel more balanced, at least the more track focused ones. standard they really are hairdressers cars. they are too loose and feel disconnected unless you go for one of the sportier ones.

naturally aspirated yes... but the 1995 eclipse made more than 200. so did the evo's and subaru's, as well as the dodge neon srt4, cobalt ss, VW GTI, Hyundai veloster turbo, the rotary engines (which made nasty power per litre)

The S2000 can make 350 maybe 400 HP safely with only adding a head gasket , Aftermarket clutch, Tuning and working on internals. so Moog doesn't have to turbo at all but if he turbo's it will be cheaper than working on internals, So overall if he turbo's it will be Fast, Reliable and Cheap.

Hey MCM, I'm a huge fan of yours! Watched nearly all of your episodes and this one has to be one of my favourites because Moogs reaction to driving a Honda with VTEC is/was EXACTLY like mine. I currently still own a 400rwhp R33 Skyline (drift car) and a 300rwhp VY SS Commodore... just last week I went and bought a 4th Gen Prelude with the H22A VTEC and 4 wheel steer. Prior to this i have owned about 10 other cars as well (im only 19). My first reaction to VTEC i was laughing just as hard as Moog and had the biggest grin on my face, you've nailed the explanation of it, unicorn fart! My mates are just like Marty's, saying "you have a 400hp skyline and you're telling me that this car is more fun?" the puzzled look on their face is priceless. Kudo's to you Moog, hope this Honda lasts a while and long live VTEC performance! If ya's have the time, check out my drift videos on my channel :P

Wow, Marty knows absolutely nothing about the S2000. It's really depressing since I used to think he was awesome =( I own an NA Miata and I still think the S2000 is the pinnacle of the roadster. It's absolutely a work of art. Turbocharged Miatas are cool and all, but they do not come CLOSE to the beauty of the S2000.

I hope you realize that they actually "act" during many scenes in mighty car mods. In this series, Marty represented everyone who is biased against Hondas (think annoying civic owners who put an intake and fart can on their car and think it's fast), and Moog represents the typical "annoying" Honda owner who thinks their car is the best thing in the world which has no limits. Moog was making a point throughout the entire "gramps" build just how annoying it is when Honda owners think their car is fast and that they are easy to modify by everything "fitting their Honda". They both admitted in videos a couple of years after this particular series was over that they both wanted to experience these worlds of miata's and S2000's and both thought each other's cars were better than their own. They admitted it was fun, but was time to move on. If Moog really was a die hard honda fan, would he have really gotten rid of it? He respects them & even more since owning it, hell, he even stuffed a honda engine into his mini. However, it never really was "him", as in... he never felt a connection to the car. Marty actually liked his miata, but we never really did find out why he didn't keep it. Personally, I think he missed it so much, that's why he built his "Evo" "too sexy" as a dedicated track car. Remember, these guys do MCM for entertainment purposes, usually just for their own enjoyment, but sometimes they really just want to be informative and/or make jokes, again for entertainment purposes. Sometimes they buy a car as a joke, sometimes they write a story into a script for entertainment. Take the blue turd for example, they wrote a script that Marty challenged Moog to a race and ultimately, Marty said something that put the blue turd's fate on the line. In the script, Marty looses the race, and then they filmed the "loss" on camera. Then later they had the scripted video of Marty waking up to realize the car was gone and Moog was about to crush it. At the end of the video, they admitted that the car was beyond repair (prior to getting stripped and crushed), and wouldn't have passed the inspection to get it re-registered. The point is, these guys are acting and filming their adventures, both real and fake, because they think people might enjoy watching. Don't just judge Marty or Moog based off one video, or even an entire series. Odds are they will flip roles for the next series.

sorry to break it you Marty, but the next best thing to an s2000 is a Z3 or lotus elan, not mx-5. And good luck getting over 400hp in an mx-5 that's still controllable let alone durable, while an s2000 can take a lot more than that thanks to forged stock internals. bottom line: you get what you pay for. This car is quite possibly the best bang-per-buck sports car of all-time.

Look up a Golf R32, or anything with the VW VR6 engine, then come back and say a 4 banger sound good. Turbocharged 4 bangers with a straight pipe sound even worse. I should know since i drive one. Doesn't sound powerful, just loud and annoying. Something an obnoxious teen with a fart can exhaust would drive. But yes, some *race spec* 200-300hp naturally aspirated 4 bangers can sound good, like old Opels.

Aaron Davis to each his own i guess. my definition of ricer is pretty much a cosmetically modified vehicle that attempts to give it a more forceful impression of power and performance. this is not necessarily correct but an acronym for RICE could be Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement. not saying that modifying your car makes you a ricer (there are a lot of excellent, well done examples out there) but some people really overdo it with the giant body kits that don't fit, fake hood scoops, giant spoilers, loud blow off valves, blinding 'HID' headlight kits, etc. and it doesn't necessarily have to be Japanese cars. There are some really bad looking Neons, Cobalts, Trans-Am/G6, Mustang, 3 series, etc.

Mighty Car Mods ive been burning through all your videos and loving them. never in a million years thought i would even consider an mx5 or s2k but here i am debating on what my next car will be. currently own an 06 mini cooper S but thats likely to change very soon.

The final dyno for the turbo MX5 was 147 Kw=197 Hp. At the wheels it's around 167 Hp. The S2000 is 240 Hp and at the wheels is around 204 Hp. However the weight of the MX-5 is only 2200 lbs compared to the S2k's 2800 lbs. 0-60 for the MX5 will be about 5.2 seconds and the S2k about 5.3 so it should be a very close race between Moog and Marty, it's all going to come down to the launch and driver skill.

The dyno was a roller style, meaning it was 197 WHP, not fly HP...it's going to be an extremely close race with the s2000 having roughly 200 whp as well. Turbo lag and driver skill will be the determining factor imo.

Speed Junkie Doubt there will be any serious lag from a t25 on a Miata. The mx5 is going to win considering it's torque figures turbo charged. My 89' BMW, back when it was in stock form with 168TORQUE/168hp, would run away from my best bud's ap1 s2k up until 90mph when his 240hp kicked in and finally passed me. My car weighs 2700lbs. 1/4 mile race = mx5 freeway pull = s2k But you are correct that driver skill will definitely matter.

TWIRKNOLOVE If your friend lost to your BMW in his S2k he doesn't know how to drive it apparently, should have easily overtaken you. But if the MX5 has 197 WHP and I was mistaken than it will beat the the S2k in a drag considering it weighs 500-600 lbs less than the S2000,

CaliPatriot88 if I use your numbers from your first comment, the miata will be faster on paper, miata with 197Whp gives a power to weight ratio 0.089/11.16 and the S2k with 240 at the crank gives ratio of 0.085/11.66. So the miata is making the most power out of less weight in between both of them. but you are correct, these numbers are so close, the launch and the faster shifter will make the difference here
