Man... I don't ever intend to watch your videos or want to listen to the synths, but Daniel you kick ass at synthesis and man you know how to hit the sweet spots. I think I could listen to you noodle all day. Is there a sweetwater radio station I could tune into? ;)

Cant believe I haven't found this vid in over 5 years.... Daniel, this is awesome ,thank you so much. You can't find nothing like your demo out there on the internet, believe me: This vid is absolutely unique! I own a mother-32 for some time now still trying to understand semi modular synthesis. I'm reading and watching tutorials all the time. Your demonstration was such an eye-opener to me, constantly answering question after question after question ... this is what I needed, without even knowing! I'm feeling a much deeper relationship and understanding for my instrument now. Thank You again! A real spiritual moment for me ;- ) - haha!

NICE! I'm going to get three of these(with the three tier metal rack mount) and two more WerkStatts to go with my my already two WerkStatts and Little Phatty, plus all my other modular gear. No one does a better demo than Dan! Just wanted to add a tip from the manual about High Pass with Resonance since it sounds kinda bad if you don't patch it. NOTE: In HIGH PASS mode, if the RESONANCE control is turned up at all, the High Pass Filter will NOT function fully as this will reintroduce bottom end into a sound, which may or may not be desired. TIP: You can provide resonance in HIGH PASS mode by patching the VCF output into the EXT. AUDIO input. The MIX control then becomes the resonance control for the High Pass Filter, even increasing to self-oscillation. For this to work, keep the RESONANCE panel control turned fully counterclockwise.
@shroompoot8 жыл бұрын
+Michael N Could you elaborate? Not sure I'm understanding. How did you patch it?
@michaeltechbytes8 жыл бұрын
Thirteen Wheeler VCF SWITCH-High Pass Resonance Knob @ Full Counter-Clockwise VCF-OUT~~ EXT. AUDIO-IN MIX Knob will now control Resonance including self-oscillation.
@shroompoot8 жыл бұрын
+Michael N Thanks for the info, although NOW i can see your original full post. When I first read it, it stopped at, "will NOT function fully as this will...." Yeah, I thought something was cut off. Keep running into this on YT.

@marike11009 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Davis That's odd. There is a ton of knob twiddling in this demo from Daniel. The Moog Mother-32 demo was one of the most beautifully musical modular synth demos I've heard, way less "blip-blop", way more mellifluous.

Aphex David That is odd, the Moog Mother-32 demo was one of the best, most musical synth demos in recent memory. It has close to 2,000 Likes. I'd never call it a "blip-blop" demo lest people think I'm a total square. :-)

Very nice new synthesizer! I have a Micromoog and a Polymoog.I have some s-triggercables to trigger them. I guess the voltage of this Mother-32 is the same as the voltage of the Micromoog, so I can trigger and link the Micromoog as a slave.

In the video Daniel mentioned sending CV into other Moog gear but never showed this in the video. Can you have a 3.5 to 1/4 inch cable sending CV to say a Slim Phatty or Sub 37? This would be the selling point for me. Please make a video on this if possible it would be a great way to show off the last of the voyager models you have in stock as well! Thanks!
@turquoisecapricorn9 жыл бұрын
+Sam Gordon I have the same question.I think Moog stayed loyal to it's voltage-system. So this new synthmodule can be linked to your other moog gear.
@samgordon59749 жыл бұрын
A few days after it was released I went in to the Asheville factory and was the first to demo it. The guy who worked in the factory wasn't sure about voltage compatibility either. I think in a few months more people will get their hands on them and see what this guy can do. Put it through a Voyager XL son!
@thomastoews78509 жыл бұрын
The whole thing sounds great except for the High-Pass Filter. It sounded more like a band-pass and just felt wrong. Like it was letting frequencies through that it wasn't supposed to.

WHILE it is sequencing, can ext Keyboard also play OTHER sounds, via midi in ? at same time ,,,
@sweetwater9 жыл бұрын
Hi +kisho bhar. Unfortunately, no. The Mother-32 is a monophonic synthesizer with a single VCO. If that VCO is following the sequencer it can’t also do something else, regardless of any additional MIDI Note requests. Fortunately, Moog makes cool mini racks that can house either 2 or 3 Mother-32s! Thanks for watching!
@swamplifecontrol9 жыл бұрын
+kisho bhar Well - yes it can actually - via the keyboard out cv and gate - as in the Mother will function as a simple midi to cv converter. just not polyphonically.
@MagicMountainStudio8 жыл бұрын

Can the Mother 32 be Patched with the Ms 20 Mini ... as i own a Ms 20 mini already and am looking for a good Step Sequencer ... I am already aware of the SQ1 which was my obvious choice, but till i stumbled upon the Mother 32 ... Please guide me through this ... Waiting ...
@jasonhalliday729 жыл бұрын
+Hiren Panchal I want to know too...
@swamplifecontrol9 жыл бұрын
+Hiren Panchal Hi - the MS-20 mini could be sequenced by the mother's c.v. but i believe the gate polarity would have to be inverted. Problem is the oscillators won't track the 1 volt / octave signal properly, so they wouldn't be in tune if you played them together (or with anything else) The original and the mini both use the Hz./volt standard - The SQ-1 has both Cv standards, plus you can invert the gate, and it has midi out which the Mother does not have. Nothing to stop you from patching any of the Mother's cv outs into the MS-20's cv inputs or vise versa - They both operate at -5 to +5 v dc.
@jasonhalliday729 жыл бұрын
For what it's worth, I did see that the ms-20m does have the ability to take both kinds of voltages... Only the desktop "m" version though... Otherwise you'll need some kind of voltage converter...

if the chip that runs everything is so thin why is the product so thick or fat? that seems unnecessary. couldn't it be thinner?

Hi Clayton, the whole circuit board is also thin, which is important when used in a Eurorack. The enclosure is shaped to be convenient for tweaking when used as a table-top synth. Thanks for watching!
