Loved this upload. Squidding from the yak is too much fun, except cleaning the ink part lol. Do you find these rigs to be more effective than the yozuris/yamashita jigs? More squid vids pls!

I have no first hand experience with yozuri squid jigs but my friend used something similar. I think yozuri squid jigs works better with bigger squid species and octopus. I personally thing that the jigs that I use better for the squid we have here.

It should be good as long as you can comfortably paddle 5 miles. Yes you can tag along. I strongly recommend the safety items that I mention in the other video.

Love your video. Question, how do you find the squids without a fish finder? What type of bottom structure to locate them? Last week, I went between sandy and rocky areas but no luck.

It will be hard without a fishfinder. Best way is to follow the fleet. I've found them in both sandy and rocky.

I simply paddle back to the spot or go find the squid/fish. Everyone is drifting at similar speed so not an issue.

I do sometimes. I have a uv flashlight that I use to charge my glow in the dark lures. However, I forgot to bring it this trip. I had 2 squid rigs on deck to charge with the sun but non-charged rig worked just fine.

No they are not year round. They come in and out during the summer to spawn. When they leave this time they'll most likely won't be back until next early summer.

Easiest way to find them is to follow the fleet. Sometimes there are pod of dolphins around feeding on the squid.
