Moon Chase Interview with Linda Ballantyne (Anime North 2013) - Part 2

She was the voice that gotten me into the Sailor Moon Series in the first place. She is amazing voice actress, and she did a fine job playing as Serena. But I can see why she was worried about the fans giving her Negative criticism once she appeared in Anime Conventions. I've debated with many SM Fans on my old "Anime91fan" account and they always say Linda sucks, or she would never be good as Terri, and etc... but I always tell them that she wanted to make the character her own, and she be more in-tuned with the character. Lots of fans at first glance hear her voice and instantaneously becoming turned off of it. Most of the time these fans had just finished watching Season 2's finale of Sailor Moon (Episode 81), and now they are at the start of the S Season (episode 83) and they are like "WTF" she sounds horrible, she sounds like an old lady, what happened to Terri? This is normally the reaction Linda Ballantyne unfortunately gets when her SM work is seen at first glance by fans. But as these fans get to watch more episodes of the Seasons that are contributed by Linda, they get to like her, and get sort "immune" to her version of Serena. Especially when they see episode 118, and realize, wow she's good!!

I admit at first I wasn't crazy about her portrayal of Serena, but she was taking on a role that had been played by someone else for a long time and I respect her making the effort to make it her own. She's also a really nice person and I hope she goes to more conventions and has fun meeting fans. She deserves to get recognition for doing a hard job :)

Serena Tsukino I agree with you completely!!!!!😆😆😆😆👍, Linda was always my favorite voice for SM.
