No, that's simply a 5-string banjo. "Plectrum" banjos are four-string banjos tuned to CGBD and intended to be played with a "plectrum", i.e. a pick. The main difference between tenor and plectrum banjo is the tuning: CGDA for the former, CGBD for the latter.

While I might find the particular banjo a bit jarring (I prefer nylon or gut strings to metal) this is a masterful and heartfelt performance of the piece. I am guessing this was a summer performance outdoors and that's why he is sweating so much.

@complexrhythm Tenor Banjo is in CGDA tuning - perfect 5th - also Viola tuning. Only 5-string banjos are in tunings such as the Open G.

22 frets. It is a plectrum. There is not 5th string.

This is a plectrum banjo 22 frets as opposed to the standard tenor of nineteen frets. Also the plectrum does not have the shortened fifth string.

This has to be the worst arrangement of Moonlight I've yet heard. There should be laws against this...Just too tinny. Interesting for the first 5 seconds...then had enough.

This arrangement is within the tradition of the instrument (plectrum banjo), using a technique called duo style.
