Ms. Quackenbush and Mr. Musselman guide and explain how and why the moon appears in different phases (or shapes) in our sky. Follow them on a journey as they model the moon's motion and relationship with the earth and sun.

According to this demo I should never be able to see a full moon during the day. Can someone explain. Thank you.

nice video. I was wondering, when can we see a 'horizontal' waxing gibbeous? and in period of 5 hours of visual sighting, how does the moon go from a vertical position, to a horizontal position? just some interesting questions. Thanks

These videos are difficult to make & this is pretty good. But I think the demo showed the moon revolving around the earth in a straight plane. I think it should be at an angle. Also it would help if these demos showed how the moon looked from the north/south hemispheres

My question is still If it is a full moon on my side of the Earth, Is it a full moon on the other side? I think Yes, because the Earth is spinning on its axis, doing its night and day thing, much faster (in 24 hours) then the moon is revolving around the Earth. Right? So the earth spins, and the moon is still in the same position in space relative to the Sun and Earth. Is this correct? Thanks

I don't know why I am the first to respond to this.......BUT....you guys are awesome and did a great job!!!! I am an Earth Science teacher in NYS and I have been wondering how to do something more multimedia with this exact topic. I may have my students view this video and devise a handout to go with it (if that is OK with you two, of course!). I may even consider trying to reproduce this..........but awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially the pic-in-pic! What editing software do you use?

Good video, but your demonstration suggests the moon rotates about its axis. It does not.
