Moon Point Cemetery and Legend of the Hatchet Lady

Nice video. I’m from Streator and went to Woodland high school there. The story that I was told was about the hatchet lady was that she took an Ax to her son and daughter and hung herself in an old barn there that now was torn down. The story says that the orbs and the hatchet lady appear on a full moon at the stroke of midnight on a Thursday.I went there with three school buddies and the story is that you don’t want to be there at midnight in A Thursday with a full moon. Curious about that, we decided to go there right before midnight. Right before midnight we went there and got out of my car. All of a sudden we seen orbs floating around and heard the train. We ran into my car and my car was surrounded by a haze of orbs. We were all spooked and screaming and I tried starting my car and it was dead. The train could be heard blowing its whistle and my car just wouldn’t start. We were all scared that the hatchet lady was coming at that point. One of us seen a shadowy figure in the woods which we didn’t know if that was his imagination or not?Then we heard the train leaving and getting distant and all of a sudden my car started and the orbs disappeared. We got out of there fast never to come back. This was in the late 70’s and now it is closed with no trespassing at night. You don’t want to go there at night. It is truely haunted.

That is a very interesting Cemetery . Seems peaceful compared to some . Sad that the headstone was broken .I never realized they were hollow either . That wooded are is a little creepy . Keep Safe ❤Keep Well❤

The way the ground was so different from the surrounding area caught my attention. The area is farm land so pretty much flat until you get in this wooded area, and I notice stuff like that a lot and was just out if place. Did find out the depressions in the ground here are cause by collapsed coal mines.

Sorry I missed the premiere! Looks like a very old, peaceful place… but, looks can be deceiving. You can always tell the older cemetery/graveyards because the roads “or would be roads” are gravel, you can see the outline where the weeds/grass has taken over them. (the gravel is basically nonexistent now) Love old headstones,monuments,tombstones. 👍🏻 🪦 nice job so far!
