I love this video! I used it in my class to teach my students about Chinese brush painting and they were mesmerized! They are now excited to get started trying it on their own! The camera work is a little dizzying at times though....

You are a good teacher ,and I really appreciate your introduction . I want to correct the concept of materials about the Chinese brush hair you teach us in this video, one of the animals’ fur you mention in the video that the Chinese brush was made off wolf fur(in Chinese we call it 狼毫筆, 狼 means wolf, 毫 means fur ,筆means pencil or brush.) but actually it was made off the fur of yellow weasel’s tail (in Chinese we call yellow weasel 黃鼠狼 ). we Omit two words “黃鼠” so you would misunderstand it was made off wolf fur. In fact, the wolf's hair is relatively thick, can not be used to do the brush, the wolf's "wolf", refers to the yellow weasel.

haha. Makes me want to try again. I just got my brushes today and tried to do some calligraphy and doodling. It was a lot harder to handle the brush than I had thought.I have no clue what to do with the ink either. lol.I'm satisfied knowing I at least didn't butcher the brush.

Beautiful! I love the end result! I want to move to Japan when I get older (so off topic) and I just love all the culture but one thing, the food. I don't know what it is I just don't like it. Does any one know how I can like it? Also, you can to chinese rush paintings in japan, right? Or is there a japanese brush painting too?

It looks like Holbein watercolors, but I can tell for sure. It's a pretty expensive, but good brand that has very intense colors. If you're just looking to start out, maybe start with a cotman watercolor instead? Those are a student quality paint that are far less expensive.
