I know, it's crazy! I guess for instance, a company can ban phone use 'at work' but I guess the problem is idols are always 'at work' in a way. Like my work we have to put any devices in a locker. Kinda how seulgi said they couldn't take phones to gigs

Part of it is because these companies know how harshly the public judge these idols, and how they'll turn seemingly harmless social media posts into big controversies. So they want to control public opinion as strictly as possible to protect the idols' image by restricting their freedoms. Not allowing them cellphones to contact their loved ones is a bit extreme though imo.
