Today we’re gonna be ranking all the Mooncat Collections released in 2023! I think these tier list videos are so fun and I don’t think I’ve seen a nail polish version lol so here we are 😁 I also wanted to do a “brand recap” if you will, because we have seen a new release every month from mooncat - it’s easy to forget about some of the earlier releases but they deserve some love too! Let me know where we agree or disagree 👀 & lmk which brand you’d wanna see next! As someone who lives in the southern hemisphere I appreciate that Mooncat’s collections aren’t aggressively season based. Their collections always have a pretty diverse shade range and their themes are more abstract and fun. I’d love to see more tier list content like this!

yes definitely! while I love wearing polishes seasonally, I do really love and value mooncat sticking to their own themes and schedule lol. though maybe it’s easier for them to do that because with a release every month, you can make one of them seasonal and the other two just for fun. I’m glad you enjoyed this video!! will be doing one for ILNP next 😁

of course! it is a shame because I’ve noticed both praise and complaints for every collection, which I guess can come down to batch issues, but idk it seems like mooncat is too big of a brand now to still have those issues?? like it’s one thing to just have different preferences, but the complaints re formula/quality are absolutely valid given the price.

Thanks for doing this… A great recap. Just one suggestion: on one hand, I love the fact that you had a chart where you could see how each collection ranked. But it would also be great if you could have a spotlight on each collection, so we can better refresh our memories as to what was in each one. It’s just that looking at this on my phone, I can’t really see the individual polishes very well. (At all.) But still, a great ranking, and a great idea to use the chart.

Love this!! It’s so fun to see your picks! I think it’s a fun format! Suggestions that are annoying 😂😅 maybe you could highlight one or two favs from each collection and put a swatch up? Or a version of a fav or swatch- I realize this is a ton of work and you already do so much. Love this video and concept! I can’t comment much on the ranking because I only just started buying mooncat, so I only have a few! That being said, my favorite so far is from Underworld 🥰 I’d love to see ILNP!🤗💕

Thanks for the ranking. I would love to see dupes or even just similar sister shades within the brand being considered because I feel like we see a lot of the same colors over and over again from Mooncat. Maybe that’s just me. But would like to see if they’d done a similar color within 1-2 years for example, when you review a collection.

Okay first we need to talk about your sweater because the fact that Eva01 & mooncat have the same brand colors had me hysterical 🤣 how did i never realize that?? Second of all you're so creative and smart bringing tier lists to nail polish!! This was so fun to watch and I'd love to see you tier list ILNP next 🤩 Third I think you definitely had some unexpected thoughts!! I didnt expect the apocalypse set to be in B, but you explained everything so well from your pov that it all makes sense. I think my favorite of the year was def Underworld ❤️

This was such a fun watch, can’t wait to see more ranking videos for other brands! Midnight Rodeo was my absolute favorite collection this year, but I also gravitate to all those types of shades and finishes, and have fond associations with staying in the desert in Joshua Tree…that collection captured those vibes PERFECTLY so I fell in love. It’s so cool that the brand can put out so many collections that feel true to them, and yet we can all have different favorites and find what’s special to us! I really like this tier list idea. This was a fun video! I LOVED the Pretty Prehistoric Collection from Mooncat, but the Lost in a Folktale one was my 2nd favorite. Great Video! I would love to see more of these (Especially for ILNP).

This was so fun, love me a good tier list! Definitely agree with most of your rankings; although I'm definitely a sucker for a good theme so I'd probably struggle at ranking some of these. I loved so many of Mooncat's collection themes despite not loving the polishes themselves (mostly looking at My Inner Apocalypse, also agree that I need less dreary polishes for this time of year). Can't wait to see the other brands, especially Cirque cause I feel like they were all over the place last year LOL 😅

Great recap! It was v clear to follow and im just reminded of all those Naruto character ranking chart wars raging abt back then 🤣 i only have 3 Mooncats and i'm VERY pleased with them all, but amazingly, so far i have nth else wishlisted from them haha. we shall see! mine: Catfished (the purple shift at extreme angles was a pleasant surprise that i didn't see in IG swatches), Wish I Hadn't Cried (the blue shimmer also has a purple/pink shift!) and Ghosts of Hecate (this is the one with the surprise strong purple-pink shift haha) I rly do have a type with polishes haha, i esp like sheer blueish shimmers seconding in the thread for ILNP next! 😁

HAHA yesss omg there was a chart for ANY out of pocket thought anyone might have 😂 omg so many ppl in the thread have qns abt the S-tier and me being the weeb i am, didn't realise it is not a commonly-known thing 🙈 i had to think back and then i realised. Ah. i learned it as a kid watching Yu Yu Hakusho 😬 alsO i forgot to say earlier, i did immediately notice the exact Mooncat colors on your shirt 😆 im fairly new to Mooncat! i found u when looking for ILNP swatches, and i saw Catfished and Hecate in your Faves vids. i saw Wish I Hadn't Cried in the review vid; that was the LE one that made me act, since i didn't know their stock levels. It also helps that the Mooncat catalog isn't that big. I just scrolled 'All Polish' to the end and looked up IG swatches before checking out cart 🤣 So yes, thank you for awesome reccs and getting me into Mooncat, it's a nice sparkly brand to follow 😁 Looking forward to the ILNP ranking and congrats on 5k subs!!😁

This was fun! I would have switched Alice and underworld and added midnight rodeo to S tier because those were the collections I loved enough to buy all shades, otherwise everything else is the same for me with really similar reasoning! Underworld was really cool too but I had shades that were too similar to justify half of them. I think they came out with such a fun range of colors and themes though and can’t wait to see what else is up their sleeves. I hope you do this video again next year.

Ooh interesting!! I love hearing how you’d rank them. And yeah that’s fair about Underworld, I do remember people saying some of the shades were similar to HT’s multichromes I think? Which I don’t have, so makes sense as to why they felt new/unique to my collection haha. But yes, so excited to see what they put out this year!! I think in general mooncat nails the theming (pun intended 🤭) if I were to pick one collection of theirs to put in the s tier I would say Inner apocalypse for sure because I am not a bundle girlie and I would deff get the whole bundle just waiting on a sale lol❣️ loved seeing your picks!

What a fun video! My absolute favorite was the Underworld Collection - I still drool over it 🤤 My only complaint about them is the inconsistent formula. Some polishes need to be thinned before the first use. I have plenty of thinner on hand and don’t mind it too too much, but for the price, I feel like you shouldn’t have to alter it right when you get it. I know they take customer feedback very seriously so hopefully they are working on making some changes ❤

thank you!! that means a lot, I was a bit nervous about this video style haha 😅 and omg yesss so glad you also still drool over Underworld!! its so good 🤤 and yes thats so fair! its weird because it seems to happen to everyone at some point, just usually with different polishes/collections. i know a lot of people loved their creams and didnt have the same experience i did, but then others hated the goddess complex shimmers etc. i do think mooncat is a big enough brand now that they shouldnt have as many formula issues, so i do hope they continue to fine tune it this year!

Love the idea of ranking the collections! Could you please explain how the grading works? English isn’t my primary language so I was a bit confused as what it means each letter, where red was considered good and green the opposite? In my brain it’s backwards lol, I would suggest to add the description for each grade at the box where you enter the product info, so you don’t have to repeat yourself over and over. Just my humble opinion, I hope it helps! AND hope I make sense as well 🙊😂 Thank you for making this video!❤

i’m so glad you enjoyed this video and i’m so sorry i didnt explain it lol!! 🙈🙈 it’s so funny i didn’t even consider the opposing colors with the grades! I will definitely be explaining it in my next video but basically, the S through D [maybe even including F] ranking system originated from Japanese academics, in the US we have A through F where for both systems; F is failure, D is poor, C is average, B is good, A is great/excellent, and then S is like superior or even perfection! i think this system was then adopted into the video game world and then naturally it became a trend on youtube to just rank anything and everything 🤣 so sorry again for completely assuming everyone was familiar with this lol but hope you enjoy the next one!! 🤗

This was FUN! Made me think a lot about how I would rate everything based on my personal preferences. You and I don’t have a completely different taste when it comes to nail polish, so I agreed with majority of your rankings and reviews. The Underworld Collection was my absolute favorite, Allice in Wonderland was my favorite collab too, I would just rate Pretty Prehistoric Collection much much higher, simply because matte fine flakies + shimmer are some of my favorite finishes. The only thing that I was missing is I didn’t understand your ranking very well, like what each letter stands for and what it represents. I can see S is at the very top but I didn’t catch what it meant. Maybe you could clarify that better in your video in the future. Overall, a very helpful video as always 💕

I know it’s another thing to think about so you do you ofc, but I think these videos are extra fun when you give the tiers your own names. e.g. beepworld is a fashion blogger who ranked trends this year and I thought her ranking system was really fun! just if you want to obv! always enjoy your vids regardless 😊

Oooo... I loved Lost In A Fairy Tale, Alice in Wonderland, and.... this is a shock... My Inner Apocalypse. That's almost weird to me, too. I love deep and dark, but.... I don't know, the underlying smoky vibe of some of the shades and then, Full Scream Ahead... I don't know, just hit me the right way!! 😂 Sometimes you can't predict what you are going to love! But that's what makes it fun! ❤

They had so many pretty pretty polishes last year! Alice was my favorite overall considering the polishes and the packaging. I guess this is the unpopular opinion LOL but I loved Nightmare Before Christmas polishes and packaging! So few brands even have collection boxes and do it this well. BUT…someone’s gotta win and someone’s gotta finish last and we all have are own preferences 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, great video and would love to see you do this with other brands! 😃😃👏💕

i totally agree!! they really had a great year and I can’t wait to see what they come out with this year. and I mean don’t get me wrong the designs on the NBC packaging were super cute! I think it was just the box itself? it kind of felt less sturdy to me than their previous collabs if that makes sense lol but it still was fun like design wise! i’m curious to know which release was your least favorite/lowest ranking though?? 👀 and haha yess will be doing ILNP next, hopefully for this weekend!

I totally felt almost the exact same as you with all of these launches except for Alice In Wonderland. For me that was also an S. I just LOVE that one so so so much! I can’t wait to see what they do this year. And very excited to see if they have any really cool collab as well! 🥰

I was really considering putting Alice in S !! I think if I loveddd the other polishes (like actually went back to use them lol) more it would be an easy S tier. but for whatever reason I wasn’t super crazy about Mad Hatter while everyone else loved it! either way I also can’t wait to see what they release this year, and yeah I’m already kind of expecting another collab too lol but I have no idea who it would be with?? 🤔

Oh I loved watching this video thank you Stefanie 💖. I liked the Praehistoric Collection. The End 😇. I do think though the brand has done an exceptional job in market positioning and advertising. On another note, I wonder how brands will keep up their pace releasing collections every month before becoming repetitive. And this is not about the creativity of the brand only but also about available ingredients (thinking flakies, holo, etc)

Lost In A Folktale was my favorite & was the only collection that I purchased from. I’m just such a sucker for that theme! I will say that I think that ILNP’s was better. I really love the names & themes that Mooncat comes up with. But, to be honest, I struggle with their formula. Some feel kind of gritty to me. I was really tempted to pick up several colors from the other collections But I think that other brands beat them out. That said, I may still pick up a couple from the Midnight Cowboy collection because there were some gorgeous browns that are still calling to me

I only got into buying Mooncat because of the Alice in Wonderland collection - I saw "Wish I Hadn't Cried So Much" and KNEW I had to have it (and I'm not normally a BLUE person!!), so seeing your perspective on what they released earlier in the year was really interesting :) And I KNOW one of these videos is gonna have to be about Holo Taco!! I'm really interested in seeing your top collections from them this year - it's been a huge one for them too.

I might feel differently if I got to swatch them all, but the collections that I bought multiple polishes from were Goddess Complex, Pretty Prehistoric and Underworld. But I’m also swayed by trying not to dupe polishes I already have.

Fun list and format! I love the mooncat branding and the look of their polishes in general, but my gripe is with the inconsistent formulas. I have had full garbage experiences with some of their shimmers, as in so bad that I would have been annoyed with the formula in a polish at half the price. Some of the others have been bad as well, but I expect more challenges with polishes that have a wider variety of elements. I think at this point, they’re going to be sale purchases for me, unless there’s something LE that I want. I still love the brand, but I’m going to try for more restraint this year. 😅

thank you so much! agh i’m sorry to hear you’re one of the people who’s had awful experiences with the formulas 😖 yeah esp for the price point! but i have heard they have exceptional customer service and will either send replacements or fully refund you if you aren’t happy, i hope you wouldn’t have to reach out them again but just in case! either way its def a safer bet to buy during the sales. 😅

@@PolishedYogi they do have excellent CS! I’ve had a couple bottles break in transit, and I had three rounds of replacement brushes that showed up wonky (unusable) before giving up. CS has been very gracious and speedy each time. They also sent out that email when they found out they had a large batch of bad brushes go out in bottles. I still really enjoy the brand, and I love that they’re improving. The level inconsistency at the price point just keeps me from recommending them too often, especially for beginners. I do fully hate two of their polishes that have been best sellers for over a year(?), so my mooncat opinions are probably unpopular. 🤣

I can’t judge fairly as I an new to this great brand but this is how I would rank some of the collections: I would put Underworld because of House of Hades, Lost in a Folktale because Flight of the Monarchs, Goddess Complex for Ghosts of Hecate, Mermaid because of Moon Jelly and Midnight Rodeo for Sand Viper as the highest tier because I love those polishes. I am genuinely curious to see how Mooncat tops these collections! This was fun!!❤

I think The Hocus Pocus and Alice collections spoiled us for MC's LE collection boxes. It made NBC collection seem less impressive because the box just didn't seem to have relevance to the theme. The cartons were super cute though. I think the uniformity of the collection was a bit of a departure from their usual line-ups, which might be why people were disappointed. But those GITD polishes are some of the best performing GITD polishes I've tried.

I only get the cremes as rewards. They're too expensive to only be a creme. The only thing about the boxes, I suspect that Disney has a lot of input on those. I would think it's limiting.

hi! so sorry i didn’t explain it in the intro, but it’s based off the Japanese academic grading system (and has been adopted into video games and other media and also youtube videos lol) but basically D would be considered very poor, C is average, B is better than average, A is excellent and S is superior or even perfection! i hope that helps :)

Yes, I'm confused too. I'm assuming A B C & D are the general way of grading something like the grades one would get at school. But maybe I'm wrong in assuming that. I was thinking maybe S means superb, super, superior or something outstanding that starts with the letter S 😅 but idk.

Oh heavens I blocked the ridiculous matte polishes from my mind and now I'm angry all over again. That collection deserves an entirely new F tier. Anyone sophisticated enough to buy boutique polishes online knows where to get a matte top coat, there is NO good reason to lock an expensive boutique polish into a matte finish. Even adding a glossy top coat on top can't fully get back the juicy look that is such a part of the joy of flaky jelly polishes. They should've let people decide for themselves - leave self-mattifying polishes for the drug store brands.
