This is my first day of hearing Moondog's music, it's overwhelming. I'm going from video to video, the accumulating effect of his range is just astounding.

Doing the same thing here. It's been really interesting reading the succession of comments on his videos about just having found out about him. I was kicked back by the fact that he wasn't a new/current artist when I'd heard one track through Pandora, now I find out I've missed a huge amount of stuff. I love it all

I “discovered” Moondog about 3 months ago. What a wonderful thing to be pulled into a piece that totally immerses you. He does it to me so many times. It’s happened to me with a film, or a book, when I haven’t read the reviews and know nothing about what I’m about to experience. I get transported and am unaware of my surroundings (if I’m lucky). This is what this beautiful guy does to me. And I love that, for the most part, he’s a mystery. Stay well, everyone.

For some reason, this composition always reduces me to tears. Whether these come from joy or sadness, I cannot tell.
@mikecailean205310 жыл бұрын
makes me cry too bro, but idk if its because of sadness or happiness, but i think i cry because i just appreciate the sounds and it just makes sense you know? Its like just harmonious sounds and yet we somehow understand it and thats what makes it emotional. Its when we finally understand something, that a huge weight is lifted off our shoulders.
@TheHebenonVial10 жыл бұрын
Nick Paris "Its when we finally understand something, that a huge weight is lifted off our shoulders." I couldn't have worded it in a better way. This is exactly how I feel when I listen to this composition. What's more, it seems - to me, at least - that this song emulates the very movements of the whole universe. And this arouses a feeling of infinity and of immutable serenity. Or then I guess I'm (once more) getting too emotional.

So many emotions contained in one song ... beautiful! Pulses between sadness, fear, joy, euphoria and peace. If someone has had a mushroom trip, they know what an amazing experience it is - to feel several waves of different emotions at once. This is what this piece gives me - the enigmatic world.

I'm shocked that there doesn't seem to be ANY films or videos of him playing, even with all these albums and many years of playing on the streets. There must be at least a lot of home movies, I'd love to see one digitized, but it is very surprising that there was not one film made, even toward the end of his life in Germany.
Heard of him way back in the 60's, and thought then he was another jazz guy like Sun Ra. However, never heard the music until today. I have been missing out! Beautiful music; I can see Glass being influenced.

I don't know if that's his voice or not in his music, but I would love to hear his voice in an interview, or even just his words while talking. It just interests me to want to hear what the man sounds like....the man that made this music... I also want to hear his views on things. I don't know them, but I feel like they won't be the worst views.

Brandon Gunn It's strange, isn't it? That he recorded for so many big labels, and still chose to live his life on the streets. Also that he was so photographed but that his music was so poorly known. You should check out Moondog: The Viking of 6th Avenue, a movie about him scheduled to come out in 2014.

+Kalervo Ahonen I would normally stay silent on here, but it appears you are (not so) simply connecting to your unconscious while conscious. I would advise you to carefully progress and research further, and without the influence of caffeine, THC, CBD, CBL's, or narcotics which alter the ability of the nervous system to communicate naturally and uninfluenced, but each individual must undertake their own journey of discovery. Developing and maintaining a natural (IE, brain-muscle/tissue) connection to your unconscious mind if a powerful learned skill, one that is not easily identifiable as such, and less-so observable in others, which often leads to, as individuals prior to myself have mentioned, epiphanies of self-discovery OR nervous breakdown, as in the case of abuse of hallucinogenics and depressants, and individuals not "primed" for a realization.

sarcastic bowl of cornflakes Appreciate that you've tried to look smart here, but of course the semicolon was added to differentiate it from other languages, like PHP, in which this specific syntax could pass were it not for the semicolon which is optional in js. As for triple negation? No need to obfuscate a joke pseudo code example in a youtube comment thread, the point was for it to be readable. Keep editing though! It shows how hard you're trying to ruin a comment it took me several seconds to write!
