Such wonderful deliberacy… things are going somewhere. On a cycling trip on a North Sea island was an open stretch of dunes, grass, water and by the path a low treadmill with a line of simple animal marionettes (the simplest of four flat wood pieces and yarn) clomping in unison beneath rockers on a rod. Just me and focused critters - I leaned on my handlebars and laughed and laughed.

I am wondering if this is being played at the wrong speed? I have a digital version of this that I got online in 2005. I don't remember where I got it, and I've never seen the record - but at 45 rpm, it is peppy & sounds more like other moondog records. Which is correct? !! hooray for**MOONDOG**

Ron Regé, Jr. I think this is the original speed. But the idea playing it faster is great!

There's a comment in another video for Bumbo that it's only being played at 45rpm instead of 78rpm, as it should. Speeding it up to 1.5 for that track is pretty close

If this is ripped from vinyl reprint, it should be played 45rpm for the original tempo, and this rip would be played at 33 1/5rpm. I have the vinyl reprint and prefer 33rpm for this, slower, lower and grittier! If it's the original claydisk that this is ripped from it should have been played at 78rpm on a gramophone and 45rpm (to get more or less this tempo) would have been quite much not possible. So I believe it's the vinyl-version played at 33?

You're correct, Ron. This is (surely) the 10" vinyl version played on 33 rather than 45rpm. I did the same when I first got my copy, because there's no speed indication on it anywhere (not on the Honest Jon's version at least). I'd never herd the tunes before, and thought it sounded pretty cool like this, but also kind of strange (more strange), I thought some of the horns sounded unnaturally low, so I tried it at 45rpm and realised that was the correct speed. Testament to Moondog's arrangements that they work almost as well in slow motion!
