I like squilf because she basically went through the most of any cat. She was an apprentice when she made the expedition to midnight, but unlike Crowpaw, she actually chose to go on a death defying journey to save the clans. The two toms she liked were both bad in their own ways and Brambleclaw yelled at her constantly because she was trying to tell him that his brother was evil. She was coerced into taking in her sisters kits, raised them as her own, lied to her mate, father, mother and the entire clan. And what did she get for it? Her ex threatens her niece and nephews and reveals that he tried to kill her father because she didnt like him. And then her niece reveals her lie to every cat at the gathering and now her niece is presumed dead, her sister lost her job and her cat husband hates her because she prioritized her sisters safety over him knowing who the parents of the kits he was raising were. then it is revealed that cat hell is gonna try to kill the clans and theres a huge fight and then her niece is dead and her dad is dead and other cats she cared about are dead. I dont get how you can hate a character that has gone through that much. Like, does she need more problems?

I feel like bluestar or maybe leafpool went through more. At least squirrel could have a mate. Same for bluestar. Maybe even crookedstar, he lost his mate, and all of his kits. Bluestar lost mosskit, and leafpool lost hollyleaf.

Now that you pointed it out there might be some truth in that "attached to one of the sisters" thing with Squirrel Leaf and Dove Ivy, i got more attached to the other two. Leaf probably because of how she tries to hold things together and wants to help everyone but it all just causes stress. And Ivy because she really wanted to fit in, belong somewhere, she felt like she was being left out and that drew her into a worse situation.

I would have loved if starflower went from casual villain to the type of "redeemed good guy" that just, does villainous things for the good guys. "Oh you wanna mess with my kits? My clan mates? Hm, a bold decision, how bout i shove you out of a tree?" Would have been a hilarious and in character turn for her. ETA: jayfeather reminds me a lot of 2 of the best cats ive ever own so im hella biased, but after him, and squilf, cause squilf, i adore not just dovewing and ivypool, but their relationship, especially in the dark forest arc. Its a very realistic strained suster relationship, ine that i can see myself in from bith sides. I dont pick a favorite, but these are all in the "favorite" tier lol

THIS. I completely agree, and on the ivypool Dovewing thing. I. Hate. It. when people are ranting about one being a bad character (I mean obviously ivypool did do bad things but that doesn’t make a bad character) like it’s interesting to see sisters with a talent imbalance and how they deal with it. It not doves fault shes good at things and things and it’s not ivys fault that she has to work harder! (Although i do blame the mentors/adults in the clan for not nipping it in the bud, like if her sister is going on a special mission is it really so hard try and make ivy feel special too?! Like just try and give her more attention and fun tasks and stuff instead of punishing her for being jealous, how hard is that!? Not to mention letting a child go be traumatized by beavers.) it’s also relatable to see them both struggling with how easily dove does things and learns things ivy struggles with and how ivy feels lesser than even if she does well!

i find myself barely able to attach to any of the characters in warrior cats (this doesnt apply for like any other show, i guess the personalities in warrior cats just arent my thing. I'm only on arc 4 though, so this could change.) but i do have a couple characters i like (in no order) ravenpaw (its ravenpaw, who doesnt like ravenpaw ?? hes nervous, sweet, gets a good little life with barely, and just an overall good character in my eyes) firestar (i unironically love him so much, like i get he's kinda basic but i love his story i love how he was the voice of reason when bluestar kinda went crazy i love how even in arc 4 hes seen to be fairly reasonable, and also hes very much a pacifist who will never result to violence in most situations unless its needed, which makes other leaders view him as weak or scared when he's really not he's just not angry and thinks violence is the only answer ever.) dovepaw (from where i am in the books she's only dovepaw, and like, she's fine. she's a decent character i like her as a protagonist, but i'm excited for how she will be later.) briarlight (i love briarlight !!! how could i not yknow, basically for the same reasons moonkitti said.) greystripe (okay ... listen. i don't like him as much in more recent books but i adored him earlier on. he went through SO much honestly, and he's still just that goofy little silly guy. i liked him for just being a laidback guy !) kestrelflight (you're probably thinking, kestrelflight ???? yes. im upset he's not a more main character, like he barely exist. but i love his personality so much. he's sweet, kind of dumb, gullible, and just an overall good person who's always willing to help. I LOVE DUMB BUT SWEET CHARACTERS WITH ALL MY HEART !!!! this is mostly seen when jay uses him for herbs and descripts him as dumb but sweet himself. kestrelflight probably wouldve handed the herbs over without question if jay just ... asked.) im updating this to say kestrelflight is my favorite character i do not care he gets a scene once in a half moon hes a silly guy UPDATE : im on arc 5 now and i really love fuzzball and fernsong (backgrounds characters forever !!!!!) that was really long oops

My personal top ten 1. Dovewing , relating to her struggle of wanting to be her OWN cat . Not just involved in some prophecy against her will. 2. Jayfeather. Hes just so angsty, and doesnt like anybody . Hes my teenage angst in a character 3.Squilf i just love squilf okay shes her own person and she has a strong sense of right and wrong and i just rlly liked her sassiness . 6. Briarlight she just brings light to any scene and makes it interesting or she just idk i just love every scene shes in 7. Firestar hes just a generic main guy, but for this reason i love him . Hes just a standard hero type . 8. Sorreltail . I just like her . Shes a neat friend to leafpool 9. Mothwing easy its mothwing. Again just like her i like her whole dynamic and that shes like a medicine cat who doesnt commune with starclan 10. Breezepelt. He is an awful person. I like that he is an awful person. I like that he stays loyal to the dark forest while everyone else doesnt . Hes a pretty terrible dude . Honorable mention to Mapleshade, Thrushpelt Tallstar, Ravenpaw, and Barley. I dont rememeber Jake much bc its been years since i read tallstars revenege but it is next on my list but what i can remember, he is a neat guy . Saw someone else do dishinorable mentions and i just wanted to mention i despise Raggedstar with a passion , i hate him , i hate him yellowfangs secret , i just despise him . Atleast with every direct villain or antagonist they have something i like , he doesnt i despise him.

honestly still catching up on the newer series i'm still on omen of the stars on my reread just about to finish it so i had to skip about half of this video but the other half i very much enjoy your takes on!!!!! i like mapleshade for the same reasons you like starflower because shes just awful and i hate her so much. poppyfrost is also weirdly high on the list for me as well because its such a unique and unexplored perspective that i feel like they definitely did on accident but its still a fun and interestng read to go "ohhh!!" at during her scenes, shes got a bit more personality because of those moments with her than so many other background characters that shes just really neat briarlight is also one of my favorites because she is HILARIOUS... oh briarlight you silly kitty you are so silly and funny. her optimism inspires me a lot and i think she's just a really cool dude i'd want to be her friend if i were a cat in thunderclan i would just hang out in the medicine den and gossip with her all day and lastly i never gave dovewing much thought as a kid, i dont think i hated her but i remember liking ivypool more because i just thought she was cooler but now as an adult i LOVE AND APPRECIATE dovewing so much and dont understand why she got/gets(?) so much hate. she has so much anxiety and PTSD from... existing, honestly, and she handles situations and her emotions in a very relatable way, i think she's really refreshing and i always like her point of view in the books because sometimes the other chracters can feel very predictable and reactionary in a bad way, but dovewing just feels so much more grounded, i like her a lot

I love your top ten! I only watched this because I knew Squilf would be first or second. I haven’t been reading the books for a while, so my memory might be off. Here’s mine: 1. Squirrelflight 🐿️ (I love her. I just do. I never knew why, I never knew how, I never knew when. Squilf was, to me, the best character that I could ever have and I just want to give her a big hug. -gives baby squirrel- She looks cute and super fluffy. Red Squirrel Queen = Squirrelflight.) 2. Dovewing 🕊️ (She’s really cute, and I liked her even in PoT, which she’s not even in. I got very spoiled and I’m currently reading AVoS while knowing Squilf is probably leader now. Dovewing’s power seems cool, she has cool powers and a cool lover. I Lovewing Dovewing.) 3. Twigbranch 🪵 (As you can tell, I like the main characters 👍. I knew about her ever since I knew about Dovewing, which was late PoT. Her separation from Violetshine immediately in AVoS and her relationship with Alderheart and the medicine den is what I mostly remember from the books. She just leaves TC and comes back with her love interest -i think- ) 4. Hollyleaf 🌿 (I read Hollyleaf’s story immediately after Into the Wild, so that’s probably why I love her lol. The whole situation with her double moms and fake death is just wonderful. I like her as an aroace Hollyleaf rather than an I-love-Fallen-Leaves-without-loving-him. I never actually detected any romance between them, but that’s probably not why they started the ship. 5. Ivypool 🌿 (Same emoji as Hollyleaf just because it looks like ivy. Maybe. I only really like her because she’s Dovewing’s sister. She was also in Hollyleaf’s Story, and I knew her since around the beginning. Love her and love OotS.) 6. Bluestar 🔷 (Failed blue star 😢. Bluestar just defying StarClan and being like “Oh their not real because if they were real Snowkit would be alive.” Her sudden redemption when she’s dying with her kids and Firestar seems stupid. I hate it, really. I understand why it happened, one last encounter with the children and Firestar. 7. Cinderpelt 🌫️ -looks for a smoky emoji- (I like Cinderpelt because at least I remember her now 😅. If I was thinking properly it would not be Cinderpelt, probably someone like Sparkpelt. 8. Moonlight 🌙 (I love the Sisters so much, they were treated terribly by the other Clans, and only Squilf seemed to see how she and the Sisters were alike. Leading with no toms like how Hylla leads the Amazons with only a few male representatives in her government.) 9. Tall Shadow / Shadowstar 🌒 (I relate with Tall Shadow through one thing, I’m terrible at leading. Tall Shadow tries and fails at leading the Tribe cats, resulting in Gray Wing to do it for her.) 10. Yellowfang 🟨 (Yellowfang = Prophecy cat. Most of the prophecies are given by her, not the ones before her time obviously. That’s not a real reason, but I’m tired of typing. Btw, she’s yellow.) I don’t know if this comment will make it visible but I was shocked and elated to see Hawkwing on your top favorite list. He is my top favorite warrior character because I only want good things for him and I see myself in him. He’s gone through things I strongly relate to and I loved seeing this dumb, awkward, grieving, angry boy try to recover from his mistakes and have this constant whiplash of being in the right or wrong. It’s agonizing and crushing for me that he can essentially never get what he wants and because of that I root for him to have or see happiness in his life. It’s silly he gets put into deputy position but I do think it came down to well this boy has problems to work through but has potential and is loyal to his clan that has been similar to some of my own experiences. I also admire that he never really gives up. He keeps trying and that’s really motivating to me who has life beat me up a little.

Also on the topic of Dawn of The Clans, I remember really, really liking Gray Wing because he was such a sweet character; he suffered a lot and shied away from responsibility for pretty good reasons, and the ending made me cry and doodle him a shrine art hahaha… I also remember liking Graystripe because he was a dork, and Whitestorm since he was sweet too and a PMV I saw really highlighted him well. Don’t remember anyone else lol, I dropped it around the Power of Three

These are my top 10: 1. Cinderpelt - I've loved Cinderpelt ever since she was introduced, I love her so much, not much to explain 2. Brightheart - Brightheart is so wholesome and just a great character 3. Crookedstar - I did not care for him before I read his super edition, but once I did he earned his spot on this list 4. Dovewing - Such a cinnamon roll, and I feel kinda bad for her 5. Squirrelfligjht - you gotta love Squirrleflight 6. Ivypool - I kinds relate with her whole jealousy thing 7. I think Star Flower would be massively more interesting if she has a similar arc to carol in TWD after the death of her daughter, where she proceeds to traumatize 3 children, directly kill one and indirectly kill two more and almost her friend's baby as a direct consequence of her actions, then only have a moral crisis about it after the group is in Actual Tangable Danger

I 100% agree with your point on Ashfur. Although he's a "classic" and popular, I don't like Tigerclawstar, with the exception of 'Leopardstar's Honour', which shows him being manipulative in a cool way.

I love that such a prolific member of the Warrior Cats community unironically loves Ashfur. Ashfur is my favorite character, and despite his actions I relate to him a lot. Although I'm much more mellow than Ashfur is, I'm overly desperate for... not even love, just good relationships with people in general. I'm constantly alert on how other people perceive me in any given situation, so when people I'm otherwise close with reject me and no longer think I'm a good person, I just find somewhere private and break down like I majorly f'ed up. I'm in therapy and it's helping me improve, but being desperate for validation, taking rejection to heart, and letting feelings brew rather than speaking out are all big flaws of mine that have become part of who I am. The rejection is more so in the context of friendships and not romance, and I never act on my negative emotions (let alone start a fiery tantrum). At worst they become intrusive thoughts. But regardless, Ashfur's core feelings are something I relate to a lot, even if his method of coping was extreme. He's partially a learning tool and partially an "I've been there at my worst" kind of character. My warrior cat OCs that were formerly kittypets but are currently warriors: Dustythorn - has a warrior father and kittypet mother. When his sister got adopted, he ran away to live with his dad Honeytail - Dustythorn's sister. She ran away after being adopted and lived in her kittypet bf's yard for a while before her bf got hit by a car Leopardheart - her mom was a savannah cat and decided to run away, taking one of her kittens with her Spotty - Leopardheart's mom Pantherclaw - fell in love with a clan cat and left their home to be with her(they're a hairless cat so needs a little extra cuddles in leafbare) Lilyfang - doesn't exactly count because he was born a clan cat, but he did go through TNR Patchface - was a feral cat before being placed in an animal shelter and escaping with the help of Valleyriver(later, Valleystar) Valleystar - on a journey with her friends to find a new home, got captured and placed, briefly, in an animal shelter Scrapstar - raised as a barn cat named Scraps, but his farm fell to ruin and he was left behind
