A midnight mist rolls off the contorted forms of the waltzing shadows. It swells out towards the wildlife, breaths of lust audible. Luminous petals stir in the summer-tinged air, drawing a dark wisp towards it. The wisp beguiles the blue cup, it tips in forward. The darkness coils around the stamen; slowly, ever so slowly, the luminosity rots and the petal sags, a starlike pollen drips from the corpse and browns on reaching the grass’s arms. The haze is lascivious, rolling over the violet-bathed meadow, draping over the trees, sinking into the grass and traveling up its shafts, thumbing at flower’s petals. The girl a safe inside, a thin layer of glass protects her from the night. Her head tilts to rest upon her savior’s pane, her tears pearly in the moonlight. Amethyst limns the her profile and tints her flaxen hair, a chimerical sight. Lavender streaks the sky and burns it’s trail into the atmosphere. All but moments later an explosion rocks the landscape. Another streaks past, seconds later another. They start following in quick succession, it’s only a matter of seconds before the meadow becomes affected. A ball of brilliant light forms and expands at a fixed pace, it’s effulgent flames burning into the cornea of any possible onlookers. In the streaks purple firelight, the ravaged meadow is host to shadows that dance faster now, alarmingly fast, the silhouettes dance tumultuously. The girl retreats further into her cocoon of blankets, she isn’t afraid - she can’t be, she’s accepted this. The blazing streaks periodically color her figure in an ethereal violet, a steady swell and wane of light. She closes her eyes as she holds back an audible sob, the eerie resonance of shadowy harmonies nearly reaches a point of intolerance. All there is to do is sit and wait. Ooh these a great to use a prompt to write thank you!!

EDIT: Part 2 is in the replies :) The sword drug though the ground behind him, cutting through the soft earth and leaving a trail to mark his passing. It was the only thing he'd left behind, the only thing to show he had gone this way, chosen this path. Ahead, the road continued on, winding its way through a forest of sorrowful thoughts and shadows. If Anabelle had truly gone this way, then he would follow her. He'd follow her forever, if that was what he needed to do. He walked on, through the shadows of the trees. The branches pulled at his clothes, already torn and stained from the same struggles that bloodied his face and chipped his sword. In the distance, a wail rose up, a fierce crying like a scream. Anabelle. That was her voice. He'd never heard such a sound, such an inhuman cry rise from her, but he would never mistake her voice for another. He hurried his steps, and they carried him further and further into the forest. He turned away from the path, stepping into the depths as he followed the cries. A castle appeared in the distance. It was little more than a stone home, a single window lit by candle light, but here in the forest, it had the bearing and presence of a fortress as grand as any. He approached the door, his hear heavy with trepidation, but the cries must have been coming from here. Anabelle was inside, he was sure of it. He hefted his sword, lifting it up, and the frail candlelight caught in the stained blade, the blood clinging it seeming to glow like the flames of hell. He approached the door way, and gave the door a light push. It swung open on hinges that howled like a wolf, and yet, as he entered the through the doorway, no voice called for him to halt. The wailing fell silent, and all was still. He made his way through the entryway, and towards the stairs. He ascended them, taking care to keep his footsteps from echoing against the hard stone, but there was no one here. The place was long abandoned, and as the silence grew heavier all around him, the certainty that he would find Anabelle rose in his chest. At long last, and after all this searching, he would finally find her, the woman he had loved for all those years. At the top of the stairs, he turned left. The light was stronger that way, and like a month drawn to the flame, he was drawn to her. It was only a few steps further, and he found himself standing before a closed door, the flickering light of a candle visible beneath the door. He took a deep breath, feeling it rattle around in his lungs as if there wasn't enough air. He pulled the door open, and stepped inside. Anabelle sat beside the window in a room that lacked even the most basic of necessities. A chair beside the window and a small table to hold the single candle dancing in the darkness were all it held. She turned to face him, her dark hair framing her face, and her dark eyes light black pits that dug into his heart and pulled out what he feared most. "Hello, John," she said. Her lips pulled back in a smile. John raised his sword and held it before him. The smile widened, revealing a pair of delicate fangs, sending a tremor down John's back. He wasn't afraid of her. He wasn't afraid. "I've been waiting for you," she said. A tear ran down her face. "This place is just about right, don't you think? I could disappear here, and no one would ever find me." She looked back out the window again. She had been watching this entire time? She'd seen him arrive at the castle, or perhaps she'd been watching for even longer. "Did you love me?" she asked. John nodded. For years he had loved her. "And our children?" He nodded again. She was asking foolish questions now. He should--he should finish this now, but every word she spoke in that voice, with that face was another word spoken by the woman he had lived his life for. It was another moment of imaginary happiness. Another memory to hold tight. "What about now?" she asked. "Do you still love me? "I do," he said. His voice cracked, but the words were strong enough, and her smile changed. It brightened; it warmed until it was almost a shadow of the smile she had once had. The smile that had been stained forever by the blood of their children and the hunger or a monster that lurked within her. "Even now, you still say that?" she gave a small laugh, a helpless laugh. as he nodded. "And that is why you're here to kill me, isn't it?" She stood and moved away from the window. Her words stung his heart, and his vision blurred as a tears welled, but he would not let them fall. Not till the job was done. Not till the monster his wife had become was put to rest, just as the children had been. He took a moment to look at the sword, at the blood crumbling along the edges, rusting away the blade. The sword like himself, it was cracking and rusting. It was stained with hard choices, and the only things remaining to him, were harder choices. He pointed the blade towards her heart and held it with an unwavering grip. This was what had to be done. This was what Anabelle wanted, and what he feared more than anything. She held her hands outwards, holding them open as if seeking an embrace, and exposing her heart, or the place where one should have been. "Before I lose what's left of me to the beast inside," she said, "let's dance this one, last time." ----Sorry! I didn't mean for this to be so long! I just got excited, so I'll cut it off here.

it is my last stroll beneath the pale moonlight; my last dance beneath the stars. yet, there are no stars on this night. sorrow is strewn across the forests and shadows like a blanket of darkness, cloaking all that breathes. i cannot feel the coldness, only the silence. the silence of an ending i can only describe as my own.. and there is no emotion in my footsteps, only an emptiness. for what is life worth when you only feel hollow?

She sat on the chair in shock, ink on her fingers and papers about. He had finished the last note and it echoed through the silence, she turned to face the man at the piano. He hadn't moved still touching the white key as if savoring the last sound, "How did you do that?" she whispered, before looking down at the drawing she made. The music he played was haunting, it burned an image of a lonely girl in the moonlight, which she drew with her pens. She barely registered drawing the picture, the music misting her mind and her hands moving to finish what the music started. She hadn't had inspiration in so long, the image was so bright and clear, it made her happy. He chuckled, "It's a secret.", He smiled before beginning a new piece. She grabbed a new piece of paper and began again.

I feel like out of all fairytales I can think of, the original Little Mermaid goes with this pretty well: dark, but not so much sad as it was just simply beautiful. Tragic? Perhaps, but even as a kid, I saw nothing bad in it. Rather, it was something that taught me not to wish for something you cannot live having forever, something that you have to sacrifice yourself for to have. Never ask for something that changes you and was not yours to have naturally. She couldn't kill anyone, so she threw herself to the sea and became bubbles, because, as I see it, she knew what she had done was not supposed to happen. So she paid her price for it. A hard story to digest for some, but hauntingly graceful none the less, exactly like this piece of music.

this to me feels like someone on the edge of death, yet they are not content, but filled with regret, anguish, and absolute rage. Though they are powerless to do anything to combat it, screaming in torturous agony of a life unsatisfied and ripped from them without reason or warning, their screams could crush even the cruelest men from its sheer pain, yet they could not combat it, and their life slowly slips away fading into the nothingness that is death, the endless black that envelops you with nothing on the other side waiting, something that a good story can be based on, for as they say, your life flashes before your eyes as you fade into death

It’s vast dark white, a frosty and wet sensation on your skin, oppressing you with it’s building weight on your clothes. You can walk, but you’ll never reach any destination. Your heart squeeze, but not in the way it would with fear, more like with anticipation. You feel heavy, your breath runs humid and cold, you feel yourself falling into the snow but you pass out the second you touch it. It felt oddly like a river. What was it?

A tapestry stained of tragedy, melancholy, and sorrow. Amidst the girl’s tragic fate, lit only by the moon’s ethereal rays, was her final gift upon the world she called her home. Like the placid rain that tapped upon the glass, this would be the final time her eyes would be open. She breathed it, lived it; the girl poured her life into it. She left behind a final sonata: a Moonlight Sonata.
