Moonlight - W. L. Gillock

Hi everyone! 👋🏼 I hope your feeling well and great! Today, I present you my performance of Moonlight by Gillock. 😆🎵 This piece is one of Gillock’s rarities but should deserve a lot more recognition! You may not have heard of the composer Gillock, but he is such an amazing writer for the piano, his pieces always so emotive, familiar and always tell a story! 🎹😁 This piece is full of hand crossings and is at a slow, sentimental tempo of ‘Andante Sostenuto’. This piece requires much delicacy and feeling, and may seem a lot more easier than it is! It also follows basic harmonies that really give the piece a familiar but memorable melody! 🎶👍🏼 Although, it may seem quite repetitive, Gillock has intelligently added many crescendos and diminuendos, to make the piece more alive and elegant! The pedal is used very generously to give a starry, moonlight texture to the composition. 🎹😊 This piece reminds me of the night sky 🌌 Filled with stars, planets and The silhouette of the moon. 🌙✨ After a gradual climax of this lovely sketch, the piece is ended by getting quieter and this for me this symbolises the clouds covering the lit up sky, bringing it to an end. 😄 This masterpiece is great for anyone at any level, especially if you enjoy pieces with hand crossings and luscious melodies! 😊🎵 I hope you liked my video, please don’t forget to Like and Subscribe and leave a request in the google forms link in my channel description! 😊🤩
