I was cleaning mine today rinsing it with water and accidentally pulled off the cap, the advice at 10:15 saved me from worrying I had broken the pen completely and it's all fixed! Thanks for the excellent video!

Thanks Doug for this follow up video that answered my earlier question of the original post. I had since found out how to disassemble the nib assembly and was going to post an addendum to my question, but you figured it out too around the same time. Great video and quit apologizing, there were no instructions and everyone is trying to figure this out. That's why we look up guys like you to help us. Thanks again.

Thanks so much, Globe3! Apologizing is Canada's second favourite sport and it isn't always apologizing - more like passive aggressive sarcastic criticism. It is an art.
@Saginaw724 жыл бұрын
Doug, I've got to learn that art of apology. Sounds effective.

Success. For unscrewing nib, warm water helps as Aluminum expands more than plastic. For the piston assembly not as good. No need to remove the blind cap if you used a wrench to unscrew piston collar. I guess you have not disassembled a Pelikan. Aluminum is anodized not painted. I admire your courage in tackling this.

Thanks, Chris. I have a friend's old Pelikan M200. There is no way I'm even contemplating disassembling it! LOL

Late thanks for the video... I was cleaning mine out and somehow pulled out the piston altogether and had a hell of a time putting it back together. I'd probably not have been able to put it back properly if I didn't see this. 👍

I have the brass one, it got a water bubble behind the piston after cleaning it, but I couldn't get it off, then i did what you showed, but used vice grips on the metal part, and found I had to turn it the opposite way. nib end in left hand, knob end in right hand, I held the pen and turned it clockwise, as if tightening it. I'm going to seal it with silicone grease and put it back with a wrench, but not so tight! Thank you for showing us how to get that far. I hope you have a great day.

Yeah I didn't have that little tool when I got my T1 and I used a wrench as well. It chewed up the aluminum but you don't see that.

Thank you so much. This video also saved me after accidentally loosening the cap and creating that gap, which I couldn't fix until I found your video. My TWSBI wrench wouldn't fit. Also, not sure why but my Mooman T1 arrived with a Jinhao 18kgb nib so I had to switch it over
@InkquiringMinds4 жыл бұрын
Hey, James! That's really odd that you got a Jinhao nib. Who and what was your seller?
@James-np8oj4 жыл бұрын
@@InkquiringMinds I thought so too. I picked it up from the seller erofa on Amazon who seems to sell all sorts of pens and stationary, so could be why. It was an impromptu purchase but glad I did - the wet writing of the Moonman T1 makes certain inks look so rich and varied I really enjoy using it.

Hi there, I'm trying to get the knob for the piston back on but ive had no luck after countless attempts. My patience is wearing thin. Any ideas on what might be going wrong. Do you think the plastic threads inside may be knackered? Also when I put the knob on it can slide over the threads with minimal force. Is this normal.
@InkquiringMinds2 жыл бұрын
That sounds to me like the threads are toast.

So does it take Bock or JoWo type nibs? I got one and was thinking of trying out some flex nibs
@InkquiringMinds3 жыл бұрын
I've never put a Jowo or Bock into the T1. However, the T1 has a pretty standard Moonman #6 size nib. I've been able to get Penbbs #6 into them and I expect a Jowo will as well.

I really can't get the end cap process at 10:00 down. Could you explain a bit more or give some tips? I get a "click", but I can't screw it down fully.
@InkquiringMinds8 ай бұрын
It is almost trial and error. Thread the piston knob on to the threads for a turn or two and then feed in the piston and see if it closes up. If there is a gap, try different amounts of turns on the piston knob on the thread before feeding in the piston.

Incidentally, as a long-time Kansas resident (40 years, until 2011), I appreciate hearing the Wichita State University Chamber Players. (Not my school; I was in Topeka and audited a couple of classes at Washburn University.) But I love Vivaldi and their rendition. Oh, and my biggest complaints about the T1 are: 1) It does not post properly, and 2) It does not have a clip. That would keep it from ever being my daily carry.

Thanks for the video.. As always hugely informative... Helped me out a great deal. However, there is one problem arising even after 'successful' reassembly... So the piston works fine and the knob closes flush when the piston is full withdrawn and all that... BUT when extending the piston (towards the section)... I have to be VERY careful to stop exactly where it extends fully otherwise the ratchet engages (you get that 'click' sound) , and then when you withdraw the piston, the piston lever is now fully withdrawn into the tube before the turning knob closes tightly. I mean, I guess twas possible to force this even with the new pen, but now it happens too easily.... Just a bit of latent force once piston is fully extended and it ratchets... Any idea of how to address this would be greatly appreciated
@InkquiringMinds4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Samsuddha! That ratchet mechanism is just plastic, so the more you use it, the more it wears.

If you're going to be taking pens apart with any frequency, you might want to get a pair of nylon- jawed pliers, I find them indespensible.

Thanks so much for this video. Using a wrench from a different fountain pen (credit goes to #Chrisrap52) dissembling the pen was quite easy. That said, I thought I’d tried everything possible to get the piston and screw cap back on properly. What you demonstrated is perfect thanks again. PS: although the cap looks flush with the barrel, there is a slight rattling from the cap! Any thoughts. Everything looks good…just that dang rattling. Update: I watched your video a few more times and fiddled with the positioning of the cap to the piston rod. Got it!!! No rattling. Thanks so much.
