He finally saw just how that, not only Drax, but other evil People he'd worked for, never saw him as a true friend, but as a killing machine. It only took one look at his new love, Dolly, to realize that. He realized, too, that he'd been trying to kill the only new true friend he'd ever had, even though they'd been enemies up to that point. Jaws made a smart move here, by becoming a good guy, and fighting the forces of evil, rather than being evil himself, anymore! Sometimes, all it takes, is some love!

Originally For Your Eyes Only was going to be after The Spy Who Loved Me but they decided to do Moonraker instead and bring back Jaws as producers were getting heavy fan mail etc to have Jaws return. It’s interesting that everyone assumes Bond is right about Drax having no place in his perfect society for Jaws and his girlfriend. Consider the fact that Drax had used resources to bring them up to his space station despite the fact that Jaws main purpose, namely the elimination of threats, was finished and Drax thought himself untouchable and free to carry out his plans. Jaws is massive and terrifyingly strong. Why would Drax not want those genes in his new society? Ultimately, if Drax had spoken to Jaws in a placating and reassuring manner then it’s unlikely Jaws would’ve defected.

with Michel Lonsdale's passing all of the James Bond villains prior to 1985 (except Kristatos from For Your Eyes Only) are now dead.

Not quite. Yaphet Kotto (Kananga in Live and Let Die) is apparently still alive.

RIP Michael Lonsdale, Drax is one of my favourite Bond Villains, it's a shame we never got a Montage of what his plan for repopulating The Earth was going to be, Jaws is my favourite Bond Henchman (second would be Oddjob from Goldfinger), shame he didn't come back, y'know what is it with Jaws working for Karl Stromberg and Hugo Drax?: Both were megalomanical madmen who wanted to recreate a new world in their own way; one in Space and one under the sea???, I also loved Drax's Women in his Master Race, they were all stunning Women but the one with the brownish red hair was the hottest, would it not have been cool had Drax Kidnapped Holly Goodhead (The Main Bond girl for Moonraker) and brainwashed her into becoming one of Drax's Perfect Women? I think that would have been an interesting third act for Bond and make it personal for him

2:22 Dolly may be blonde but she certainly figured it out straight away when she took one glance at the tall hot model standing behind her.
