FOCUSRITE SCARLETT SOLO 2nd Gen USB Audio Interface

Quite a few folk ask which interface is used here at Moonrunner Music to interface the guitar with the computer. At present, the 'Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2nd Gen USB Audio Interface' is being used for most of the guitar and mic sounds which enter a Windows PC computer.
To record guitars, instruments, sounds, music and so on, the Focusrite Scarlett Solo is used in conjuntion with Reaper and standalone VST guitar FX such as Positive Grid's BIAS FX. The audio interface can be used in conjunction with your preferred recording software, VSTs and so on.

What is difference between sound quality of gen 2 and 3rd ,are they both a approximately similar or not ,there is a huge difference in their recorded vocals? What do u say plz reply

I don't know as I have only tried the interface in the video. I will be buying another however for laptop, so will see what is what then. Btw, very happy with my interface and still the same one now! :)

Did you have any issues with latency? I'm trying to set up mine (same Scarlett as yours) but struggling with it. Wonder if I should get a more powerful laptop, like a Mac.

I have had issues with latency and all you need to do is go to your settings/preferences in your DAW to sort things out. :) If you have problems with this, search KZbin for videos about this issue. I use Reaper and had to adjust the appropriate settings to get things just right. :)

Have you ever had a problem of needing and not having a pad button option? If you used different guitars have you had clipping on some? how much gain knob is turned? tnx

I don't know what you mean by 'pad button option'. It is easy enough to use the gain knob to adjust for clipping.

Hey good evening for you probably! I have the same model and I had a question. Are we able to use the mic and guitar interface at the same time while recording or is this just a single channel interface?

Yes, mic and instrument are on separate inputs which show up as channel inputs in the DAW.

I purchased my first preamp for my microphone an trying to connect a TRS Cable from my preamp to this exact interface through the instrument port with a TRS Cable. My question is this connection Compatible ? Or is this interface mic port only for a Microphone?

I think it is just compatible with microphone and not TRS, but please check specs.

Hi i liked your review and i wanna ask you somethings. Can you suggest still in 2021 2nd gen solo. And i live in Turkey. The market price GEN3 1250turkish lira. Used GEN3 900-950tl and GEN2 700tl. What is your suggest ? (cheaper better for me im student but i dont wanna waste my money for nothing )

I can obviously recommend the Focusrite in the video which is 2nd gen and that is the only one I have used. I would imagine all Focusrite Scarlett interfaces in their range will be similar and the same with varying features.

Can you use a stereo cable on the line/instrument jack from a mixer?

I don't know. You might want to check the specs, but I think the main input is mono for the instrument.

I use Positive Grid's BIAS FX which is a VST plugin. I will ne getting a profiling amp at some point for the tones I would like.

Can you still play with effects if you switch to Direct Monitor?

I don't the direct monitor switch at the moment and my sound is routed differently, plus I use FX in the DAW. I have switched it and you can the clean signal coming from somewhere alongside the tracks in the DAW. I don't really know how to use the direct monitor on the interface as I don't need it for how I have things set up.

When i increase the gain on the guitar port ints, i hear zzzz sound... When i decrease the gain on the guitar port ints i cannot hear the guitar on the recording... Omg...

You might want to check your leads, connections, pots on guitar, etc.
