Facts. Love and respect Randle for his time, but this is good for the team.
@devingiannini2077Ай бұрын
Well if this video is correct that he's a good defensive center then that eases much of my concern but the big thing is that if he doesn't gel w/ the team his contract really limits our flexibility going forward... which is exacerbated by the draft pick (which we are low on since the MB trade) and as a kicker we lost a bit of depth. I think that this was premature b/c I think Randle would have been capable of adapting to the new look of the team... if you must make this trade I would prefer they do it at the trade deadline to see what the roster could do. Now we'll never know :-/ Plus on a side note... most NYK fans have some PTSD when it comes to "this blockbuster trade for this big name talent is going to win us the title! Win now!" We saw them do that for 2 decades while every time it failed spectacularly... so I think most of the pessimism is us bracing ourselves for if this fails and we have to watch the team be terrible for half a decade before they can fix it
@alexanderi2020Ай бұрын

The role that I Hart played within the Knicks defense last year, is the role that KAT is going to play. I Hart is not a product of athleticism or talent, he’s a product of hard work and effort. Understanding this, allows you to understand that if KAT locks in on that end he’ll legit average 1.5 Blocks and 1.0 Steal a game similar to I Hart but is potentially giving you 25-12-4 on offense. This was my dream scenario for the same reasons you mentioned earlier about the NBA trends with stretch 5’s, as spacing is KING. Amazing video bro, good stuff you definitely not a casual.

First thing, I. Hart was the Knicks backup center to Mitchell R. Second, when Mitchell was unavailable to return till at least Jan. The front office needed to pivot as to find a replacement. And third Randle refused to either pick up his option or sign an extension. Donte D. was the cost of moving Randle. Minnesota demanded him in a trade. (After Knicks refusing McBride)

KAT and Randle are comparable-caliber players at the 4, but KAT’s numbers at center are better. All his mainstream advanced metrics (like PER, WS/48, BPM, etc) were higher before the 22-23 season, when he moved to PF. If this coming season follows that trend, he should be a big upgrade over Randle. Personally, I hope they play him strictly at the 5 and just have Mitchell Robinson come off the bench. MR is really good, but reduced minutes make him likelier to actually make the playoffs in good health.

I believed in Julius Randle and wanted to see him have a fair chance at being healthy in the playoffs with the full Nova Knicks. Is KAT a better player, yes, but I think Julius was insurance if Jalen were to get hurt and miss substantial time. KAT is not the creator Julius is. I always had Randles back and hope he goes OFF in the playoffs with Minnesota. As a Yankee fan, A-Rod had plenty of poor postseasons, but it all came together in 2009 when he single handedly carried them to the World Series. I was hoping and looking forward to a similar story for Julius, but we will not get that.

Let’s not feel to bad for Randle! He’s going to a team that was in the WCF! They still have a good team, minus KAT! Adding JR doesn’t take away from their potential. JR will help any team he’s on! I’m rooting for Minn from the West!
