Just curious - is there a reason why Nic Nemeth came out with his Indie name instead of using his WWE name (Dolph Ziggler)? I'd assume that WWE would let him use his old name at TNA if he wanted to. This is especially notable if he does make appearances at NXT in the future.

There are some names of WWE superstars that WWE has legal/copyrights to unless if it's their real names or superstar names. But Nic(Dolph) used his indie name before he signed with WWE. Also Nic no longer works with WWE/NXT unless Triple H himself calls for him, Dolph Ziggler asked for his release which is why he is reinventing himself and bettering himself.

Wwe hardly ever allow anyone to keep their wwe name, most of them either go back to their original indie names or they make a new one up. Dana Brooke = ash by elegance Emma = tanille dashwood Big show = Paul white Rusev = Miro Edge = Adam copeland (the list could go on, and on) Most of the wrestlers who have the same name as in wwe/nxt are because it's their real life names so wwe couldn't trademark it, or it's because the wrestler owns the trademark themselves (like Cody rhodes when he bought the trademark to his name, and ricochet owns his name for when he signs somewhere else) wwe like to control their performers so they get to make money off their names Hope this clears up your question 😅✌️
