I bet that took a few hours to set up. I appreciate it. I had no idea it took seperate harvesters for each crop.. i totally glossed over that in the shop menu manyyyyy times lol. As for how to harvest them i was totaly lost as well.. all i knew what to do was farm and plant them. from then on i was like errmmm now what........... your a life saver. great video as always very simple and instructive. thankyou

Its not hard. Fertilize for every stage of growth.

To get double your yield of crops, first fertilize your fields (slurry, manure or buy fertilizer your choice), plow your field, at this stage you are at 40% additional yield, fetilize again, now your at 70%, sow your crop of choice, fertilize one last time and your crops will yield 100% more or double what your field would have without fertilizing or plowing, each time you fertilize your crops it will yield 30% more, plowing your field will yield 10% more, after one field you must plow it or cultivate/sow/seed before you can fertilize again or you will waste fertilizer/money. Is there any additional profit to delivering pallets of potatoes or beets over just tipping a volume of potatoes and beets? Also where do I sell them? I found that using the ramps and a slight downhill, it's possible for the pallet conveyor thing to create the pallets right over even the biggest tipper trailer, and it can actually hold and tip pallets. Saves time on all the pallet loading.

Im trying to use the pallet maker and it worked at first but now it wont make any pallets. Its full, 16,000 L, and its activated to make pallets but its doing nothing. Any idea why?

Hello, I tried to load my GL 860 Compacta potatoe planter using an in-game front loader and potatoes from my own harvest. This was possible in FS15. But in FS17 the potatoes wil not drop into the planter. Am I overlooking something. Loading from a pallet is very expensive, so I had hoped I could use my own potatoes for the next crop cycle.

We can still sell beets and potatoes like other crops too right? Does the lower price for beets and potatoes mean that there is more yield from each harvest, otherwise why would they be worth investing in? I have a question about fertilizing. I have my options on 3 stage fertilizing but I'm wondering when exactly should I fertilize. In doing missions for farmers I noticed they fertilize before cultivating/plowing a field. So before cultivating, when sowing, and just when crops turn green on map? There's also weeding in between. So much work :(

most seeders, for example the seeder you start with in goldcrest (idk bout the other map, havent played it yet) do the first step of fertilizing at the same time as they seed the field and then you need to ferlize every growth state you can also press escape and go to the menu where you can see the growth state of a field, there are three types of blue that will indicate how wel lfertilized a field is. dont ferget to fill your seeder with solid fertilizer as well when you got one that can do both. when you hire workers and you enabled the option (its default) they will automaticly refill fuel for the tractors seeds for the seeder and fertilizer as well to the same level as when they started doing their job, provided you have some pallets of seeds and fertilizer somewhere (either at the shop or at your farm or in the middle of the freaking road if you want to)

Matthias Smit 1.) fertilize before cultivating after cultivating or while you sow 2.) weed or fertilize at the first stage of growth 3.)fertilize any time after the first stage (second to final growth stage) I'm pretty sure this correct but not 100% sure. Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies guys. +James today I tried it in this order idk if got 100% yield: 1) plowed then fertilized before cultivating 2) fertilized with sowing 3) weeded the field in 1st growth stage 4) fertilized on 2nd stage. I got a lot of yield.

I just got FS 17 now in 2020, so I really enjoy your tutorials, you're an expert trainer, no doubt about it... thank you for taking the time to prep and create and post those tutorials for the world to see and learn from... I just have one question I can't seem to find an answer for, about FS 17 sowing-seeding... once we fill up a seeder and use it, some remaining seeds are still in the seeder... my question is about this, is any way we can unload those seeds from the seeder to empty it out, to eventually make room for loading new seeds..??.. if the answer is simple, bare with me, I'm new to this FS 17, I love it so far, but still learning about it...

Just switch seed type with the correct button (depends on the system you're playing on so look at the controls dialogue box). You don't have to fill with a specific type of seed.

Thanks for following up with me on this mate... Yes I use that also I'm on the PC only so I believe the default key is Y using the keyboard... So it looks there is no way to unload the sower of the remaining residual seeds... It appears it's the same for the fertilizer also, we can't unload whatever is in it... I was just curious if there is a way to do it... Thanks much for all your work on making those tutorials... well done mate...

My Sower won't let me select Beets to plant. The other seeds in the machine seem to override Beets. Any thoughts? (Other seed count IN the machine is Higher then Beets, but I can't see that being the issue) Just spent $590,000 buying all the Beet equipment, going to be hard to pay back the $300,000 I hard to Borrow if I can't plant anything!

mrpe0op that would be a helpful tutorial. Cause first time I used the train was to transport my beet harvest only to figure out later that I have to switch trains. Had to empty the harvest in a station silo then retransfer it to the other train to sell it.

I like moving large volume crops like beet/potato in train. I think one train car can fit 70k liters (don't quote me on that). If you connect three big tippers you get about 63k liters. Train would be free and you can sell the crop in one delivery before price drops. As Moose mentioned, train silos can store root crops too.

I think it's 500k liters for each crop for each of the 3 storages, and the 2 trains are also 360k each when you load all the wagons you can with crops, but that's just one type. So the entire train system storage capacity comes out to 1.5M of each crop + 720k extra of a crop of your choice.

That Grimme beet combo SUCKS!!! I had to learn this the hard way last night. I stayed up way past my bedtime harvesting my first set of beets because I chose to lease this set... never again! i had to dump this dumb harvester at EVERY passing on the same piece of land! Sooo MANY BEETS!!! The trips back and forth to the Train Depot was exhausting... plus you dont have time to multitask and unload another harvester on another field because the Rootster 604 is so freaking demanding! If I ever sow beets again, I will upgrade to the Holmer
