I kinda feel the same way. To be frank, to my ears, Khalil seems to reflect influences from many people, so I can't compare him with "only" John Mayer or "only" Jimmi Hendrix. Every artist has inspiration from someone along with his/her own originality, which is what Khalil has.

so it'd be okay if i copy ur style and i admitted it.... i just think khalil has capability to be himself, to built up his own identity. he didnt need to do that. influence is unequal to replication. Here, i meant the identity, not just the music. He's obviously trying to BECOME his idol! I'm not sure if u know gary clark jr, he's obviously influenced by JH a lot, but his identity and style is still strongly original.

It was when jm did a cover on jh, playinv the exact same riff with his own touch on the guitar, you wont say jm copy jh. And Mr fong did wrote the song himself , using techniques like jm, and not same guitar lines an d this is copy Also it is a classic blues trio form, with chords and scales standardized, so...

Ka Yu Chu it'd be okay coz it's a cover.... again, i was saying the IDENTITY. Trio with black suit, thats obvious. he isn't an "idol" like some k-pop styled hk singers. he's a musician. Originality of own identity is important for a musician/creator.
