Sleep paralysis is when your mind is awake but your body is still sleep occurs durning the last stages of sleeping when your sorta awake but not quite....happens to me quite often usually when i sleep on my back( i refuse to sleep on my back now) best thing to do is "close" your eyes shut tight and wait for it to pass.

Courtney's story is a good lesson. Years ago, when I lived alone, I heard someone moving around in the first floor of my townhouse. I was terrified. But I thought that it was either fight or just be a victim, so I screamed, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE!" and the person yelped and stepped out. Turns out it was my landlord. :)

I have horrible sleep paralysis. I've been lucky the last two months I haven't had any issues with it. It freaks you out so badly that you become afraid to fall asleep, I would stay up for days at time. One of the worst ones I've had happened about two years ago. I was awake but i was having a hard time breathing, it felt like someone had their hands on my throat. I was trying to wiggle my toes and fingers to wake up fully and then I saw a shadow move at the end of my bed. I tried screaming but I couldn't, I was paralyzed. I also saw my bed dip a little near my feet. I sleep with my dog so I was trying to make some kind of nose to wake him up and it worked he woke up and saw that I was panicked and started barking, that's when my roommates came in and were able to get me out of it. Ugh.. It's so horrible!! I've never really believed in demons or anything like that but when that happened I opened up my mind a little bit to it being a possibility. They also say to stay calm and not to panic when it's happening because it intensifies it but it's really not that simple when it's happening to you in that moment.

i get sleep paralysis at the same time i get lucid dreams... so once i was dreaming i was swimming under water and it felt so real that i was holding my breath but then i got sleep paralysis so i felt like i was being held under water and couldn’t move or get up to the surface. long story short i was lying there for a good minute not breathing until finally i could pinch my boyfriends arm and he shook me awake. that was really scary, like i literally could not breathe or move
