Those Chrysler slant 6 engines were indestructible. I was an electric co meter reader back in the 1980`s and loved running Dodge Aspens And Plymouth Volares. I don`t remember being stranded, they were like Sherman Tanks. Thanks for the memories Tim. Awesome content.

It looks like you can just float around Kansas in your orange pickup truck with the AC blowing it looks like somebody ordered it a plain Jane and had air-conditioning AM FM stereo put on it or that's factory I don't know if it's a factory air condition and stereo or after he bought it he wanted a sienna stereo and they installed it but that looks like a definitely has potential even if it was 196000 Miles and slant 6 is just run forever adjust the valves put premium unleaded in it it just runs great I know I had a 71 Plymouth scamp slant-6 and I bought it with 53,000 miles from the old lady that owned it and I drove it weigh over a hundred thousand miles and it ran great it was the best car shouldn't have sold it I kick myself in the head for selling that one but good luck keep floatin and maybe one day I'll float up next to you LOL

That is a cool truck. It definitely needs to be back on the road. I would rather have that than a modern truck any day. But I grew up in the 60s and 70s so I have a special connection with these vehicles.

I have a 73 Chevy C30 I purchased from a neighbor when my 87 Ranger had the ECM go bad. I can fix and maintain everything on it with no computers required

There's been a few classic Dodge pickups on craigslist Tampa Bay that have got my attention lately, I really like the 318 motors that these ones had, my brother bought a New Dodge Tradesman van 1976 I helped him customize it as a kid working with oldest brother was fun great van love them old Dodges

That's a sweet truck and I am sure the thing will run it has a slant 6 in it and those things always run. I could tell it was a 1980 just by the front end they went back to the round headlight deal the 1979 has the stacked square headlight and the 77 and 78 has the same front end except the 77 has the clear turn signal and the 78 has the amber. anyway I would of bought that truck too if I was there the thing is in good shape and it having a 4 spd manual is cool too it looks like it was a AC truck too so that's a bonus

I am glad so many of these vehicles were able to be saved from the scrapper! Once they go to the salvage yard they can only be used for parts and never rebuilt to running condition! Good job on saving all these treasures!

Not sure if you know about it but on the inside of the tailgate at each latch is a little tab you can flip to operate each latch to get the gate open.

That is a really nice truck. I would pull the engine and re-seal it and proudly Daily drive that old girl. I had a light green 1973 Dodge D-100 Adventurer with the 318 and automatic. Regular cab with the long box. It was pretty rusty when I got it but I did what I could to make it last as a daily driver. I live in the mountains of central Pa where everything rusts apart within 10-15 years. There was not much left on the old girl that wasn't rusted. I had replaced the Floors and a bunch of other panels and the rear spring perches and shackles when I got it and they were severely rusted again. Door skins were junk, bed sides were a flopping, the old 318 had over 300,000 miles on it and used a considerate amount of oil. Rite before I sold it, the rear spring perches rusted out and pulled off of the frame. She was in sad sad shape but man do I miss that old truck. You can not find those trucks in my area any more and I want 1 really bad. I like the old 255 slant 6 engines. My old 69 Plymouth Valiant Signet 4 door had a 255 in it that I had hopped up a bit. Sadly back in 1987 I hit a full grown Cow on a foggy spring morning on a sharp bend and totaled it. Yep a damn Cow and yes it hurt.

Could clean up and por 15 and patch the bed floor and put you a sheet of diamond plate in the bed to protect the bed and can still haul some stuff in the bed

Excellent truck, cooler in my opinion with the slant six. A buddy recently bought an early 60s Plymouth wagon with this engine. We were at a local bar where his band was playing and it wouldn’t start. I could smell the gas so I held the choke open while he floored it and cranked it. Started right up. Not much a guy can do to kill one of these engines. I’m also a CWM fan, they had to pull the head in that truck. Hope yours is less work. Cheers from Denver

Watch out for the solid lifters in that leaning tower of power! If you don't get the valve's adjusted correctly the engine will over heat! You have to set those precise with a filler gauge! Had a 79 Plymouth volare that over heated! Installed a new radiator but still got hot! Finally figured out it was actually the valves incorrectly set! The person that replaced the head failed to set the valve's correctly!

Check the frame where the steering box bolts on, they tend to crack there. Nice beater you got there.
