Good straight to the point video. Great advice. I’ve been tinkering on a 1966 Barracuda, owner had in clean dry storage for last twenty years, brand new in box front end kit too. So have worked on many Plymouth’s but never this deep on the suspension. Actually not that complicated and thanks to your advice confirming my suspicions as to how to proceed with the relaxing of the torsion bars.

I tried the cussing method for an hour or so first (just to make sure). Then after seeing this video, I had it out in 5 mins. Thanks for sharing!

You are welcome. Once you get the hang of whats going on with how stuff is attached, its like duh. I took the bars out of my 65 Coronet after I did this video, have been in since the 70's, and they slip right out.

Your guidance worked perfectly... on the passenger side torsion bar. I did have a floor jack under the LCA and just took off the tension with the jack. I could see the bar relax and I gave a twist and pull... boom it's out! I wish I could say the same for the driver's side. OMFG! I have actually hooked a 2-ton come-along to it, beat on it, hit it with heat, wove a tapestry of obscenities that Ralphie's Dad would be proud of. I really don't want to cut the thing off but I am running out of ideas.

Sorry it took awhile for me to get back, been away from my laptop. Check on the backend socket where the clip is. There may be a burr/divot etc holding you up or if you are in the rust belt, there may be a bunch of crud you need to scrape out. Also at the front end, when you loosen the nut, only give it one turn, maybe just a little more. You want to be able to spin the control arm shaft but if it gets out too far, the bar alignment gets a little sideways which can add to the fun. After you loosened the left up, did you move the tension finger up and down as far as it would go after you backed the tension bolt off fully? See how far that finger moves then place it about halfway in its travel. The bar "should" come on out. Has there been any prior collision damage that was not fixed correctly? AKA, prior Dukes Of Hazard jumping when mom and dad are away? If you want, feel free to call me. My number is on the card. I'm in California so its west coast time. If you are not in the country, I'm not able to answer any calls on my phone. Just leave a msg and I'll call back. I screen for robot calls.

@@rollanotheronefabrications2903 oddly enough the rear end of the torsion bar released. The car is from Canada originally and definitely saw a lot of rust and crud build up underneath. I don’t really see signs of significant damage. The K member is a bit banged up so I suspect it bottomed out a few times. I have a torsion bar tool on the way from Mancini and will see if a few well placed sledge hammer blows (in the proper direction) releases this thing. The LCA bushings are so completely gone I think I might get through that part reasonably well. I have to travel this week but am going to burn a few days of PTO when I return and spend some alone time with the car. The good thing is that I don’t really know what I am doing and on the job training expectations remain highly achievable 😂. I will post a follow up in a week and let you know how it’s going. Thanks for the offer to call you… I may take you up on it. Thanks for everything!

If you are inclined to do so, you could cut the offender, remove the pieces and replace with new. I like to replace as they do lose strength over time. Like us, we are not as strong as we used to be. At least for me at 63.@@HalJalikakik

@@rollanotheronefabrications2903 I armed myself with a rented Roto Hammer this AM and literally dropped that &@#! Out in four seconds!! I am pretty sure the “whoop whoop” was heard a few miles away. Now I get to attack the remnants of the bushings. That should be fun.

@@HalJalikakik Now that you have it out, check out the hex sockets on all four spots. Clear out any grundge in them plus feel them to see if there are any burrs in them. If there are, file them down. When you put the bars in, new ones would be an outstanding idea[ but thats just me], get some chassis grease wiped around the sockets before. Don't pack them up. Since you are in the Great White North, it may be beneficial to use some marine grade grease since it doesn't flush out as easy as regular can sometimes do. Did you get new boots for the bars?

You are welcome. Nothing like a no dollar way to get those out. Unless of course the car has been in the rust belt or beach area for its life then it might get interesting.

In the near future, my new garage is going to be built. Once thats done, I can get it populated with my car, tools, equipment etc. From there I'll do a second video going into better detail covering the removal and install. Plus I'll get ahold of a better camera setup instead of my phone so its way clearer. Thanks for the viewing, subscriptions and replies.

I haven't issue with my Duster I took it to 2 alignment shops and they couldn't align it cause the the right frame rail rolled in. I have to take it to a frame shop.

Is it because it was rusted through? If so, you may want to check the other three plus the floor.

Ok. Have a look at the k-frame too then. My 65 had a hit many years ago, shows many signs of it but everything fits fine so I'm not going to mess with it. Not bad enough to worry about.

This looks very similar to my 98 Dodge Durango and I'm hopeful that it is the same. I need to replace the lower control arm bushings and couldn't figure out how to release the bar so I can take the lower arm off to replace the bushings inside of it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.😁
