I had a puch maxi in 1987 when I was 16 years old ,after half a year I changed everything what you did ,70cc carburator exhaust and it had a top speed of 110 km per hour and won a lot of races against tuned Honda mt50 bikes that where popular at that time.Nice to see that they still exist.

With a 70ccm, 21mm carb, tune-up exhaust, clutch and filter you need a super high gearing to reach 110 km/h… which makes it crazy slow from 0-20 km/h, to the point you need to run it up to speed.

(near 50 mph) getting the thing repainted in the older yellow V1 wich is more of a orangy sporty color original reproduction checkered flag tomos decals getting a 70cc upgrade for it soon its going to be a near 60 mph monster when im done with it. Those things are fast af when you put 70-90cc cylinder kit with a larger carb. Along with the inner rotor system, a fully tuned 50cc bike will make around 20-30hp, They are mind boggling fast for the cylinder size they are running (70-90cc)

for a aluminium 70cc you can easely start with 21MM, Id say 24 max. Just wait till you drill out your clutch, dremel out your fuel ports of your cilinder, cork up your crankshaft, also a in-rotor ignition system also does wonders for your power (the stock system, contactpoints, crap out when you get above a certain RPM, making you miss ignitions, or they straight up burn). I once entertaned the idea of installing a turbo charger to the crankshaft ends for even more power. But when my lil maxi was finaly done and i did a full speed test, at about 110 kmh (68MPh) the speedometer cable broke, and it still reved up, passing cars on the freeway (so over 75MPh). Ive decided that there are cheaper ways to die. Also you might want to replace the rear bridge for a rectangle steel one. the stock rear bridge is very flimsy at high speeds (thank me later). also you might want to add a support brace from the top of your gas tank to the top of your saddlemount. Sorry, english is not my native language.

19 mm Bing carburateur is much better for a Puch maxi btw in the Netherlands is the standard carburateur a 12mm Bing. In 1985 was the Puch maxi the most popular Mopet overhere in Holland. Mine had a Kickstarter you must change the carter for a carter with a Kickstarter. I had also installed a disc brake on the front wheel, aluminum wheels instead steel with spokes. Top speed above 60m/ h -100 km/u we use the metric system. Better welding a pipe between the top of the gas tank and on the frame above the saddle when you improve the power...

40 years ago we were doing about 100 km an hour with a puch maxi but the frame had to be upgraded. Cheers from the Netherlands.

Here in Brazil, mopeds like puch are kinda rare, here we have the Caloi Mobilete, wich is a Brazilian one but there are some mopeds like caloi that have a 75cc kit, with mallosi reed valves, and a 28mm carburator lol They easily beat up a 125cc 4 stroke bike, and easily reach up 60 mph lol
