You need an XNA subscription to use audition mode. It's a tool for authors like That Authoring Group and others to contact artists and labels, get the permission to chart their songs, and put them into Rock Band 3 via the Rock Band Network. Audition mode is how we test songs in Rock Band Network (once you have an XNA subscription) to make sure they're all working properly and test and pass them so they can go on sale as DLC for Rock Band 3.

@gangster8101 That's why I think there should be videos showing the charts b4 they reach the store so that way ppl that don't play test can see if there is a problem before hand especially with the 2x bass pedal songs

When we record our videos in audition mode the game is on auto-play so no one is playing these instruments. It's just to show everyone what the charts look like and what the songs sound like.

Well, they don't have it officially. You can make customs for them (even play them over XBL for whatever reason, look for the We Are The Nightmare full pro band video) but it's not supported by RBN authors.

@DrSlowbro The creators testers at RBN felt that there was enough of a pitch in the nevermore/scream for more that it should be pitched instead of 'talkie'. But I agree and think it should be non pitched as well, but what are you going to do? Majority rules at creators ;)

Main menu of Rock Band 3. In the Options - Extras - Audition Mode. However if you don't have an XNA account and Magma from creators.rockband.com AND the RBA to upload to audition mode to test it then, Audition Mode is pretty useless. It's exclusively to test and create songs for the Rock Band Network, and without the proper tools, programs, and permission from the bands/labels, and stems from said bands/labels, then Audition mode isn't going to work. It's a tool, not a game option :)

@DrSlowbro that the "nevermore" screams are the exact same pitch every time they repeat has no bearing at all? Even if the vocals are guttural, they are definitely reaching for an intended pitch on these phrases. Intentionally pitched phrases should be charted as pitched, not talkies. Given the harsh nature of the phrases, I wouldn't be incredibly sad to see them as talkies, but I don't disagree with authoring them as pitched.
