It's strange to me how some bands and artists can go through constant big and small changes and still be embraced by the public. While others get thrown under a bus. It's okay that Tom G. Warrior has never done the same album twice, but the second Morbid Angel try something fresh they get ostrosized? Odd, just plain odd.

Very good point on all youve said David. BUT as a musician, youve taken the responsibility of creating a certain type of music. IF you cannot create the same music as you once did it would be better to just not do it. Its like a job, the fans pay you to create good music, Morbid Angel music. Not to be creative and change things to what you want. If your unhappy doing Morbid Angel music, simple dont do it. Otherwise its like someone selling a Volvo and saying its a Porsche.

There are 'Morbid Angel Fans' who haven't yet comprehended the awesomeness of Albums F G and H over Albums A or B. Maybe by ten years Profundis (my Fav from Illud) would be a Morbid Angel Classic widely agreed upon, who knows... It doesn't matter that Vincent had nothing to do with F G H coz the music is mostly Trey's work
@filmcoolstuff12 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree. They didn't include the interviewers questions, so the answers seem like random rambling because they aren't very concise. I think everything would seem more relevant if we didn't have to figure out what was being asked.

David Vincent's "outside" influences may have caused the band to make some questionable musical decisions but I have a hard time hating on him. Not a big MA fan as I only have Covenant and Domination, but how he comes off doesn't really piss me off. He's very cordial and professional in the interviews he does. If he wants to play country or industrial so be it. It doesn't really affect me at all or the music I listen to.

For record, Trey had the idea to bring electronic music into the "I" album. Morbid has always used outside ideas, though. If you listen to a lot of their riffs, rhythmically they're very swinging and shuffle like. Even on Blessed, classical music was their main influence.

David seems to be feeling quite defensive, but I can't blame him. MA fans expect to hear what they love about MA, and the newest album failed to deliver that. So the majority of MA fans are beating this album up. But I regress, this interview seems to be an unorganized collection of random thoughts that probably only make sense to David.

I respect your opinion of Vincent, as you are entitled to it. It doesn't change that Trey wrote most of the album, and respects David's input. It's Trey's band through and through, he just chose to let another speak for the band. And since he doesn't seem to be correcting Dave, something he could do whenever he feels like it. I can only assume he feels Dave speaks true for the band. No disrespect, but they still play that horrible "best of" set because all the "fans" shit on anything else.

Did he quit Morbid Angel or something? Or are you one of those people that lay all the electronic and industrial elements on Illud Divinium Insanus at Vincent's feet because he played in Genetorturers? Because, if you know anything, Trey is the one who loves that stuff. Check out his myspace video on the state of metal and his plans for future shows. I'm sick of people shitting on Dave because he went on a journey with Trey and they made something unique for thier catalogue.
@Tankdomain12 жыл бұрын
It's always nice to read comments from people that have no idea what they are talking about. Trey writes 70% of the albums, including Illud.., and is the one who loves all the electronica and techno stuff. Get your facts right before you try to shit on somebody from the safety of your computer desk. This kind of uninformed shit-slinging is exactly why he says the comments on the internet don't matter to him. And why he doesn't see you as a fan or valuable in any way.

Exactly. I can respect your opinion because you don't go along with what everyone else is saying. I bet 90% of the people shitting on this album only listened to Radikult.

In a situation like that I can understand a front man not wanting to perform his replacement's material. Sure it's been years, that doesn't mean it's like that in Dave's head. I can't speak for Evil D, but if he doesn't believe in that material how could he do it well? Also, if the material is as emotional as you say then maybe he can't relate. I don't believe I'm alone in thinking that Dave has a buttoned down personality and what he does is a stage show. Maybe he can't play emotive stuff.

If so then you might be a musicians or creative person's worst nightmare lol. I'm not going to give them credit for going in a different direction, if it sucks.

Morbid never had a variety of sounds and styles. They're about the quality of music? Did he really say that? Man they're warped. They had a distinct style and should have stuck to it. That's the sound that made us all become fans. Who the fuck says to themselves, "I want to listed to something different, with variety......ok Morbid Angel then." No we listen to them to hear death metal. You can't count on them for that anymore. plain and simple.

Nope. There is nothing one dimensional about Illud.., so I don't understand how anybody came to that conclusion. "St. Anger" is a boring album that stays in one space and never leaves, it also sounds very, very forced. Illud..., on the other hand, is wildly diverse and quite smooth with a feeling of effortlessness. Why anybody has tried to compare the two, in any way, is baffling to me. Now, if you called it the "Cold Lake of death metal" you might be onto something.
@atavismdream12 жыл бұрын
I don't know what fans you are communing with, but I have yet to encounter anyone that would not welcome change to that ridiculously stale set list. In all the time that Disco-D has been back in the band he's only played 1 song from Formulas, an album which many fans hold as the absolute pinnacle of MA in both music, lyrics and feeling... and still he does not even perform this with any real effort and with the lyrics messed up. Surely by now he can swallow his pride and embrace post Vincent MA

man what a load of crap youre talking. as a band you have to grow just the same as you do as a person when getting older and ofcourse most of your innerself and character should be or not stay the same but i hope, one adds a lot wiseness to it thrue the years and that is with your playing style and musical interest also.or else your world stays very small and you do too.M.A stay just the same only adds something new to it just how it should be.im glad they did. maybe you find it to extreme??!!
