Great review. I absolutely loved the novel. I read it while working at Waterstones on my lunch breaks and the world really sucked me in. It felt very much like an immersive D&D campaign.

There's some metafictional stuff about this book that I find really interesting. The blurb thing is one example. I think it's tempting to view it as a spoiler, but I think giving that part away just made me _more_ intrigued, especially as the book carried on and on with no mention of that stuff in sight!

I guess you're right, there was some element of waiting to find out how the things we knew would happen... would happen! I think I agree with you there, retrospectively.
