I misspoke at one point: the Falx and the Longsword are the same length; the Falx and the Executioner Sword have a (mere) 5cm difference. Also, what do you think about the alt grip ideas at 4:12?

I don't know much about the falx but I would assume it's because of it's design. As for the executioner sword I'm still surprised it's something we can use in the game. It was never meant to be a battlefield weapon, you can say the same for the weapons that are available with the peasant perk, but at least those were typically lightweight tools that were improvised weapons. The executioner sword had a heavy blade made for decapitations. Though that sounds ideal for battle, the victims of the executioner sword were prisoners forced to stay still, not to mention it'd be a struggle to do a few basic swings before getting worn out. With all that in mind a mordhau grip would be pointless on the executioner sword as the hilt wouldn't be weighty enough to do significant damage. Also the shape of the blade would make it very difficult to use said grip.

The mordhau grip doesn't seem right with the falx because you don't have the crossguard to act as a pick. I think it would be cool if you could flip the grip and use some kind of reverse half-sword grip to jab with the pommel. I would be faster with a much shorter range, suitable for close quarters. But I think that would require all new animation, and Mordhau doesn't have an established jab mechanic like Chiv. Having one weapon be able to jab would probably make it unbalanced.

@@jarvisnelson1878 For the Falx I said flip it around like a shorter, stronger quarterstaff (blunt wood damage). The Executioner's Sword could use the mordhau grip, it'd be like swinging a 2x4, I think it would fit in the game just great.

Weapons definitely feel slightly more limited to me with no alt grip. Also, the alt grip is a fun feature, it seems strange to not include it for seemingly no reason, feels sorta like a missing feature not added to the game yet.

pro tip: switch to a hybrid bind or full bind keybind setup and you will find yourself improving rapidly at the game. it makes a world of difference, the 240 system is gimmicky and cripples a players ability to learn specific moves.

@@EpicBrew so there are moves known as “jpeg” and “wristy twisty” which are pretty hallmark bread and butter riposte moves at high level. A jpeg is a swing that looks very subtle and thus hard to read. To do it: parry in one direction and then riposte opposite direction. If you have ever been instant accelled thats typically the one. Wristy twisty is sort of the opposite, an overly choreographed move that tricks your opponent into thinking you will drag. I dont use this move because i dont really have it down yet but its pretty powerful. I cant explain it great and this will make no sense im sure but here goes. To perform a right horizontal wristy: parry a blow from the left WHILE turning your mouse right and then do a right strike. These moves are possible from 240 but pretty difficult and kind of a waste of time to try to learn. With binds it makes it incredible easy. For example to do a horizontal jpeg from the right: parry a attack from the left -> hit your right swing bind. Its that simple. Think about doing that in 240. You parry the attack from the left but then have to instantly turn back right and lmb within a tiny riposte window. Because of the tiny riposte window its near impossible to pick a riposte angle intentionally with 240. Ask yourself this, whenever you riposte does it feel like you intentionally picked the angle of the attack to get a specific edge over your opponent? Pretty much no. all the players ive taught to stop using lmb 240 as a means to riposte agree that it takes too much effort to make the attack not random. Sorry if this is wall of text its hard to explain these things, but if you set up binds it comes naturally and you wont even really need an explanation. Just play around with different ripostes after moving your mouse in a specific direction while trying accels and drags and youll see these moves for yourself.

@@EpicBrew High lv players often make the switch to 240 again, because it lets you do swings from angles binds can't cover. By that time you can easily pull off wristies and jpegs as well. That 240 will cripple your playstyle is horse shit. Binds will make things easier in the beginning and then fall off. These high lv players will then procede to shame you for using basically default settings (crying about 240).

Most long time players (high level players) are Duel server dwellers. meanwhile this god is lvl 200+ and is playing mordhau casually. probs to you Epic Brew.

i don't think the falx could mordhau because its blade is way too sharp, the dude's fingers would go oopsie off his wrist, i think it would be better to flip the weapon to the other side and use its blunt part like a baseball bat (would look lowkey like a katana). as always great video my guy.

Thanks! And realistically, a lot of what's possible in Mordhau wouldn't be possible IRL, so I don't think the devs are too concerned with that sort of thing lol

Historically if you were using a mordhau grip you'd be wearing hand protection, but you can actually hold sharp blades pretty tight with your bare hands and not cut yourself at all as long as it doesn't slip. The lack of a sturdy pommel or crossguard would be what makes it less effective if anything. If i were to add an alt for the falx i'd just let you throw it tbh, it's not any more unreasonable than throwing a rapier and it being effective.

Funny story, my desk sort of imploded about 2 nights ago while I was playing Mordhau, the desk basically fell apart like the Bluesmobile did in the end of the Blues Brothers movie. Now I get to enjoy Mordhau while sittin on the floor or vicariously through your videos. Can’t wait until the next video and for my new desk to arrive!

No desk yet because the story got more interesting, my Jeep broke down while I was at a wildlife marshlands reserve like two days after the desk sinkhole experience lol it’s been one heck of a week, I think the desk was just the prelude to everything else that’s been going wrong lol Your videos have probably been the most relaxing part of my days recently so keep crankin out the kills man! If you could, kill an extra saucy maulman for me ;) haha

Executioner sword could be just gripped differently : make it a zordhau grip - you basically put the sword on your shoulder making your parry much slower to begin but giving you a greater windup and strike power, maybe even 1hko on head in exchange for high stamina usage and riskiness. Falx could have a boar tusk grip which is just extending your hands and pointing the weapon downwards which could let you lunge forward and perform an underhand. Alternative modes can be stances.

I think the Flax should have extra stamina drain vs shields, after all wasnt that kind of sword used to break or bypass shields? you know, having those kinda passives like the Billhook and its ability to dismount players from horses

Well, "historically" it is said, that the dacian falx was able to split a roman shield. They could go in that direction. Maybe have the overhead swing let shield user take more damage or get exhausted to lose the shield, since shields don't break in Mordhau.

I was thinking something similar, if they gave it an alt. mode that was an overhead stance. Stabs in this stance could be quick overhead attacks and overhead swings could be slower and do more stamina damage to shields

So the mordhau grip basically turns the length of a weapon into a bludgeoning lever, which makes sense with the longsword and estoc, in the case of heavier blades like the executioner sword and the falx I don't think it would be a practical use of the weapon. I always figured reverse grip(hit 'em with the blunt side) would be a fun alt grip for the falx, and if they made the tip double edged then there could be a good case for improved stab damage. so in conclusion I don't know if the mordhau grip would be practical with the executioners sword because it's likely not that sharp, and those swords are heavy enough to cause some blunt damage anyways, and with the falx grabbing the jumbo danger banana by the pointy end doesn't really make it any more effective. reverse grip would probably just be for the memes, but it could be fun anyways.

I don’t use the falx because it’s not curved like a normal curved sword. The messer with the Swiss sabre is just curving at all right places. I chose my weapon not because it was strong or meta, it was because it looked sexy.

Could you talk a little about perks in one of your future videos? I'm new and from my expirience bloodlust and fireproof are pretty much must pick on every build in frontline/invasion and all other perks look mediocare at best, yet you always pick them. Rearding alt grips, exec sword sipmply has too wide blade and it would be pretty hard to hold it in mordhau grip. And falx has no guard, so mordhau grip would be ineffective, you probably would be better just turning it around and using other side of the blade (but why? thats still a downgrade and I don't see a single advantage of using it this way)

What do you want to know about the perks? Fireproof isn't that crucial unless you're playing engineer and are going to get fire thrown at you a lot. Bloodlust is expensive and it's been nerfed pretty heavily so I rarely use it anymore. I made new player builds video recently and I explain why I picked the perks I did, if that helps.

@@EpicBrew agree ,bloodlust is good for only one situation type ,if you go from duel to the duel which does not usually happens anywhere outside TDM/DM .Fireproof ,well only usage I've found honestly for that perk is when i am on TDM(again) on arena ,people tend to spam firebombs everywhere. I usually make build for TDM/DM with bloodlust and combination of stamina regen perks and for frontline and invasion its Cat,Stamina regen ,stun and jump cost reduction ,I dont use ranged weapons that often so stuff like huntsman or well supplied is excluded since it doesnt fit my playstyle.
