Mordhau Greatsword Build + Gameplay, Frontlines Tips (via Twitch)

Today's Mordhau gameplay video features the Greatsword in my first ever back-to-back weapon gameplay video. The Greatsword is quite good and I really enjoyed playing around with it on the stream Friday night. My previous Greatsword video was my first full match with the weapon, and after that I played this round in Taiga and managed to snag the first place spot.
If you missed it in the previous video I did a little breakdown of the Greatsword vs Longsword in Mordhau: Surprisingly, the Longsword is not longer than the Greatsword. The Longsword is 105cm long while the Greatsword is 120cm long. The Longsword can be flipped over and held in the Mordhau-grip style where you pummel enemies with the hilt of your weapon for increased damage to heavy armor, but a loss of range. The Greatsword cannot be flipped around and instead the grip is similar to the Zweihander's alt grip: reduced range but slightly faster to use. The Greatsword's alt grip does less swing damage, but it does more stab damage.
Overall, my opinion of the Greatsword is....wait for it...I believe it's a great weapon. It's straightforward, easy to use, decently fast and has a forgiving reach. Pick it up if you're looking to build a Frontlines character loadout and don't know where to start.

That is actually my favourite Mordhau weapon so it is really nice to see it in your videos! But I prefer the basic skin with the most expensive upgrades though ;)

I just like to spice up the weapon styles for the thumbnails lol

@@EpicBrew I would probably do the same if I weren't poor and underleveled 😅. I really like the fact that each weapon have skins to remade it into local variants of them (ex. Claymore). I actually shows how much time developers have spent to give players room for individuality while not making game unbalanced to ridiculous degree or overloading weapon list with basically the same weapons.

Practice more in duel servers buddy, and try to lean from using neutral swings to more drags and accels. I love see new players play this game! It’s a hidden gem that takes time to polish

Yeah, even though I'm high level, I really only started playing melee weapons regularly at around level 100, so realistically, my melee skills are level 35-40ish lol

Greatsword alt mode is OP imo. it has everything and is probably the best all-round weapon in the game

But...it does less damage than the default grip, has less range and there's no windup/combo/release speed increase.

@@EpicBrew it does less damage but you are still talking a comfortable 3 hit weapon. it just has quick stabs which help counter any pesky feinting players or someone trying to drag with a heavy weapon. plus it has a great quality of being fast while also being easy to do drags still. it's extremely versatile and effective in duels

@@MrWiggles00706 yeah, I think it's the sound effects, but just be careful if you turn it down too much you won't be able to hear horses/people behind you/etc.
