There s a lot of great stuff in this video that i can’t wait to try and practice. I ve been practicing chord tones for months and these videos gave me a fascinating insight about using scales which i almost never do, especially over blues. Thank you man!!

I'm a life-long drummer (I'm 58) and had the bright idea of going all in last December and learning guitar for real. And am learning jazz. But WTF?! Yeah, guitar is HARD! just finding a note on the fretboard is like finding an honest politician in Washington! Jeez! more precisely: In 12 tone equal temperament, they are the same note (as far as sound) - i.e. same key on a keyboard. Other intonation systems might have different notes for each. You can also think in terms of why they have different names. Ab is the minor third in F minor chord, and G# is the major third in the E major chord

I dunno, it's all over intellectualized for my taste. Play some diatonic, then play some wrong shit and back to diatonic and no one will ever know you didn't spend your entire life learning scales and chord melody. Twelve notes, use ya ears it's not rocket surgery. I feel like a lot of musicians wish they could wear a lab coat.

funny enuff but i literally just got out of my barry harris class and it was suddenly way over my head and i swear dude i was glazing over picturing everyone in lab coats!! i shit u not. lol having said that-i think these scales for the blues are pretty simple. but they make shit sound hipper than just a bunch of blues licks. imho thnk u for commenting tho brother! i agree a lot of stuff is too complicated. 👊

Subbed. :) FWIW I come from an overly intellectual musical background. I just play by ear and pay zero attention to my "knowledge". My own personal joke that might give you an idea of my opinion of most guitarists is a list of the most difficult things for a guitarist to play. #3: A song with no solo. #2: A whole note. #1: ANY rest. Bonus runner up, the same note more than twice.
