Daniel Higgins if you install a ground switch to where the three wires join up for the always on middle p/u, you can have the neck and bridge p/u s separately. The Toggle switch will still work Neck, Neck&Bridge, Bridge. Not humbucking any more but three super cool extra (and very different) tone options!

That Rick copy, I have one just like that. A bit more abused thoug, but it has a brand. 'Gerrinez', which is a bit of a mashup between 'Gerritsen', the music store over here in the Netherlands, and Ibanez. In those days, the store just commissioned these things to be made and so they got to name them as they pleased. As I said, it's been battered quite a bit, but the best part is... I got it for free, from a friend who had it laying in his shed for a few years and only found it when he moved to a new place. It's a fixer, but I am getting to that.

Yep spector basses they become an addiction played my first spector a black cherry q4 pro (model similar to the legend but doesnt have the carved body) and had to have it got it for 299 from guitar center who had it labeled as a legend lol. Now i have 3 spectors yep and constantly looking for another to add well untill my gf murders me. They play amazingly btw if you get the chance try a legend even the carved body will fit like a glove..

Finally getting a high end bass head and stuck between a darkglass alpha omega 900 or mesa boogie wd800 but there are no good reviews of the latter in any sort of mix, i feel mesa is a more transparent sound so if i wanted the darkglass sound i could just get the pedal, does anyone have any thoughts or experience with the wd800 in a mix and whether it can handle distortion well?

All the bass bodies that you rip on, make, "jokes," about, insult, complain about, even just question (the competency and/or the sanity of the builder), and yet, the Gibson Grabber is one of your favorites (i just don't see it). I had to stop watching the ugly bass things, because as someone who has built custom basses, and guitars, for over 25 years, I've built plenty of established shapes/models, and I've come up with several dozen of my own designs, some are my significantly modified take on something established, others are absolutely my own creation (until I see that shape in a NAMM video 5 years later), and it's not easy making your own designs, and sometimes a design is made simply because it fits what a customer or client was wanting in that particular building. Numerous bass designs that are quite well-known actually started out as a custom design for a customer and ended up becoming a production model. The Schecter stiletto, actually started that way, I believe, as did the Spector that everyone now knows. I also agree on the Bongo being a GREAT bass that I really DO NOT want to even play. I do agree completely on the 3 point bridge (no, just no). I also strongly like the Stiletto body shape, and though I do like the Fluence bass pickups, I am still partial to the wide lineup of EMG bass pickups, with a preference for the -X series pickups. My first bass I have rebuilt once and recently replaced the original pickups with an EMG PJ-X set with a BQC system wiring and pots, and I can get just about any tone I am after with it, and all the tones sound great. I definitely prefer this concept for a video: celebrating the variety, the beauty, the artistry of the aesthetics, the artistry of the tones, the artistry of the woods (how they can, and do, combine with everything else and work together to create a "system" that makes the look AND the sound of an instrument what it is), the artistry of how the builder chooses to finish the instrument with wood grain, figuring, and color capable of incredible things, using, dyes, stains, pigments (or paint 😮😐), and finish with oils, lacquer, or poly, and how different they all are, and the artistry of how an instrument and a musician can just identify and hit it off immediately, yet other times a deep appreciation, even a deep love, can develop over a long time. As a builder, one of my absolute favorite things is to be building a custom, one-of-a-kind, guitar or bass, and through the course of building it and finishing it and setting it up, I end up falling in love with the instrument myself. This is also one of my least favorite things because I have to turn that instrument over to the customer or client for whom that guitar or bass was being built. My top bass WAS a 1983 Fender American. Pro P Bass. It was all original, bright yellow sunburst finish that faded all the way to black, a white pick guard and white pickup (I tried swapping to black and black, thinking I'd love it, but after giving it a whole month it had to go back to the original). I owned it for 25 years, with only 2 truss rod adjustments needed. I loved it because even though I play primarily metal (surprise!), when playing that bass through my Ampeg SVT 4 PRO I received compliments about it being the BEST basd tone they'd ever heard from fans and musicians into not only metal, but blues, jazz, country, classical, pop, hip hop, funk, r&b (old), reggae, rock, and punk. I played all of these genres except for hip hop, and very little classical (only classical guitar). My Ampeg ran into a 1 x 18" ElectroVoice cab, and a 4 x 10" woth Celestions and a piezo horn. The cabs were made here in WI by a company called Sonic. I always loved my bass tones but was still blown away ay all the compliments, especially the, "best bass tone I've heard," stuff. I always just wrote it off as they were blowing smoke up my ass, but a lot of them we're very insistent and very curious about what I had, what I was doing with it, and how I was getting it to sound like that.
