Hi Sureena, Love your videos and wanted to let you know they are great and helpful. All that aside, I've got a query with regards to the pharmacokinetics questions, wouldn't the half life in between not be constant, will they actually put out questions such as the one in example? My main concern is that in between the half-life because the elimination is First order, therefore the elimination is not constant and will decrease with less and less drug? Thanks in advance!!

Hiya! You are absolutely right, and hopefully they wouldn't give you such an awkward question in the exam! I've written in the description box that I've edited the question slightly on my Fb page to make it less ambiguous. Theoretically the half life wouldn't be constant, but the reason why I put the question there was more for the case of learning a method to working out such an awkward question, if in some magical world we could assume it was first order kinetics with a constant half life in between. Sorry for any confusion, and thank you for watching! :)

Sureena love your work but I dont know if the pharmacokinetics question was answered correctly given that if the half-life is between the 3rd and fourth then surly the plasma conc should be less than the third half life but you've calculated it as higher if its constantly eliminating through 1st order then it has to be less than 111.25. I got an answer of 97.3 mg the 48 hour statement really has no relevance to the question its really only there to throw us off the question clearly states 26 hours after the initial dose.

For the creatinine clearance at 07:00 don’t we use the height to calculate the IBW and then use that as the weight substitute?

It would really depend on what the question is asking. I've come across questions for creatinine clearance which don't require you to work out the IBW :)
