So many beautiful guns to save. So little time. Thank you Tom for doing what you can to preserve this history.

That 1900 DWM has the cross hatch safety lever too. That feature went away before 1906. Some of the 1900 DWM Am Eagles (in the 7k S/N range) DON'T have the "GERMANY" import Mark, and have a lock back feature. Seems these 1900 Am Eagles were kept at the DWM facility for a while, then retrofitted with the lockback prior to release into a market other then the US. I own an all original 7k series JVMartz refinished 1900 DWM as described above. Gets shot at least once a year. 😄

The "GERMANY" import Mark, is NOT an import mark but an EXPORT mark required by German law at that time. All commercial AE guns had it, only the AE Test Eagles mfg in 1901 for the US Army Test trials did NOT have or require the "GERMANY" Export mark. 'Specific characteristics of the 1st Test Luger's are: Serial No 6099-7098, 7.65mm, 4 3/4" Barrel, no export (Germany) markings, Great Seal of US over chamber, no proofs, commercial style numbering, rust blue finish with strawed small parts. ' Source Michael Reese III, 1900 Luger US Test Trials. This is misleading because although there is approximately 1000 Test Luger's their exact range and number is contested by several expert authors. with most starting in the 6000 to 7000 range + or ? ? It's anyone's guess since DWM's records were destroyed in WW1 & WW2. The cross hatch safety changes several times within the first 2 years with various sizes and styles of cross hatch eventually settling on a 'ribbed' style around 1902-03

@@spangy8405 I've posted pics and links to a few 1900 DWM Lugers on Walther Forums. One is the S/N one unit after mine, and has no "GERMANY" export mark. Another is less then 10 S/Ns before mine, also without the "GERMANY" marking. Seems odd a batch of 1900 DWM Am Eagles were produced, then remained in Germany. When I initially purchased my 1900 Am Eagle I saw the lack of the GERMANY export marking as an issue. After seeing the two examples lacking the marking, I've realized it's not an issue.

That is such a wonderful firearm. I would love to see one for a S&W or Colt. I have only seen one of these Luger setups in a book. I have several references books. You sure do have a lot of beautiful firearms come through your operation. My favorite pistol is the Mauser 1910. I bout one at work when someone traded it in. The owner knew I was a antique firearm nut and he saved it for me and asked me if I wanted it. After shooting it I fell in love. I only paid $110.00 for it. It was in about 70% finish with a 100% mechanical. I wanted a project so 8 took a Ravin I think magazine and made a follower out of a aluminum bolt and a Dremel tool. It was a working magazine in about 3 hours and it was reliable.

I can’t even watch this as a Canadian it’s disgusting to see our heritage sold out of the country because of a politician. Thing is I’ll never sell mine out the country to appease one person that hopefully we can vote out in the next election once sold out of Canada they definitely won’t come back so I refuse to bow to their illegal actions.

The regular Georg Luger designed stock mount for the Luger pistol is a whole lot better than this thing. When I worked for John Martz Luger carbine maker from Lincoln, CA years ago he received one of these in for repair. We fired it on his range and it was to flimsy to use for accurate longer range shooting.

@@byrons61 I don’t plan to do anything illegal I just refuse to sell off my heirlooms because of a scare tactic being used to pick up heirlooms cheap we can and will vote this clown out of office and legalize these guns again but one out of the country they can’t be reimported. So I refuse to deport them.

I hear you. As kids, my Uncle use to take us up to N. Ontario to hunt and fish. Don't go anymore since it's a royal paperwork pain in the ass to bring my rifle with me. A fair chunk of change no longer going to Canadian folks running the outfitters, seaplane services, remote camps, etc... The sooner you guys get rid of that communist idiot Justin Castro, the better. In the mean time, you're quite welcome to come visit us or move here anytime you want.

Just curious if the Canadian government is allowing deactivation of these gun, or they must be destroyed. I realize deactivation IS essentially destruction from a collectors prospective, just curious if it’s an option for the Canadian families of the Veterans that brought them back?

@Greylocks

I own two. In Canada they are considered Prohibited because the barrel is 4 inches or less. As I have the proper license I can keep them or sell them to another person with the same rare license. My second option is to purchase an aftermarket 4.25 inch barrels and have it installed. Then it becomes merely restricted. If the proposed new law passes in September, all I just said will not matter. No sales, no transfers, and when I die they get destroyed if a museum does not want them. Mine are all matching numbers. It's sad that the government seems to have zero sense about what will work for gun control.
@OhBoysPaintball
@OhBoysPaintball 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, they will allow deactivation as a means of keeping certain firearms. It is unclear though if people will be able to buy and sell deactivated guns after the government changes the law.

Imagine thinking that a 3 inch barreled gun is "safer" than a 4 or 5 inch one. Ignorance.
@Greylocks
@Greylocks 2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuagibson2520 actually they think a 4 inch and less is too dangerous and too easy to illegally conceal. Since we who have them bought them legally, and concealed carry does not exist in Canada, it does not matter. (Because we wont carry them unless we are criminals). And of course criminals will not buy registered handguns.

Ohh those chrome magazines 👎 I haven’t seen a shoulder stock P08 yet mostly not from 1900 with wooden grips (with the exception of this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJXOqqNvjrWYY68 this one looks more nicer than its Canadian counterpart though, what does the term "Royal" mean perhaps Great Britain?) Grip safety is not typical of the German P08 either,the german made Lugers only the side had a side safety button

Tom, great luger, but a word of criticism is in order...you always (usually) go too fast when showing small details and flip over and wave the guns around too fast for the viewer to be able to discern much..its all a blur, so if you'd slow down a bit we'd be able to see what you're pointing out. I used too collect lugers in the 60s when they were cheap. I actually had an Ideal gripped 1900 american eagle but without the gizmo stock. I think Fred Datig mentioned the altered grips were the only feature on this gun thus destroying the originality that actually INCREASED the value. CIAO.
