I'm a black American from Baltimore, Maryland that got exposed to soca calypso music working in a record store in 1990 owned by a st Lucian. This was my first experience with Caribbean and other diaspora people. Good people with great music with BLACK STALIN being my all time favorite. Black Americans really missed out. It's a shame that there is such a cultural divide amongst us he/you have so much to offer black Americans and we don't even know you.
