The way you mentioned falling in love with rabbits is the way that I've fallen in love with snakes. I don't keep guinea pigs or rabbits, but I feel like you and I are likeminded people because we feel we have a duty to advocate for commonly mistreated pet animals.

Las Vegas, NV has a lot of dumped rabbits all over the valley. Floyd Lamb Park used to have a lot of dumped rabbit and other pets. I found this recent article: “The Bunnies Matter shelter is at Floyd Lamb Park. The building given to the rescue by the city in 2019 after dumped bunnies there multiplied into the hundreds.” -fox5lasvegas I guess that rescue has over 70 bunnies!

Love that you have become such a strong advocate for these precious rabbits and for the awareness of all resources available and honestly, as a community, there is really no excuse to help in some way. I am a caregiver, have chronic health issues and have my two werewolf skinny girls and have managed to donate, donate my time to a rescue and though my dr. doesn't want me to drive far now for health, I am researching shelters near me. We do need to be a voice for our animals anyway we can! Thank you Austin!

Thank you Austin, for providing much needed information. Many small animal species kept as pets, including parrots endure the same kind of abandonment. Once hormones come in, the animals start to dislike the manhandling and force they are sometimes subjected to, and they retaliate and become aggressive. Their aggression can be dangerous if they start biting. It's then that the poor animals are abandoned, physically abused, or surrendered to a shelter. Too often people buy animals and don't take the time to research their care, nor do they take them to get a wellness exam with a veterinarian. Thank you again for providing much needed facts.

One of my big advice for rabbit health care is to find a rural vet who focuses on farm animals -- rural vets are typically cheaper and they have ample experience dealing with furry exotics. My rural vet quoted me less than $500 for my rabbits upcoming spay whereas a city vet would quote me at least $800. We got our Potato after my girlfriend found her in the local park* last March and she is the best bunny ever, it's unbelievable to me someone would get rid of her!
@yeahexceptnoАй бұрын
When my girl was hormonal, we had to deal with some awful behaviour from her for a few months, until she was old enough to spay. She would bite us, if we weren't petting her fast enough she would bite us, or rip the buttons off my clothing. She'd pee on things. She was terrible. But we knew that because of this crazy thing called RESEARCH. We had her spayed and she's fine now. Yes, she's still a pain in the butt lol but she's not terrible.

Hi! I've got a question that is not related at all to the video, but I hope you'll answer this anyway. I was wondering how you deal with the microplastics that get released from washing the fleece? Since all your pads and stuff are made from 100% polyester, I didn't dare buying them before knowing what you do. (I've only used wood shavings in the past for my piggies, but was considering using fleece instead) Please respond if possible, you seem like a great pig and rabbit owner, All the best!

I've been trying to save a dumped rabbit for over 3 months now. I'm about to give up because I've called everywhere to see if they could save the rabbit but no success. It's sad, because we had our first snow fall. It's still warm enough that the rabbit could survive for a little while, but once winter hits it'll sadly die. I'm not good at capturing rabbits. It avoids traps like a plague. I returned all the rabbit traps and just gave up. I did ask if anyone could help, but no one seems to care. I don't mind fostering it or even keeping it. Unfortunately, I'm not fast enough and it will die 😢 we have hawks, owls, falcons, and eagles here. Not to mention other wild life like rattle snakes etc... people really suck.

I know this isn't about the video sorry! but if you have any tips pls tell me.. I'm getting officially now 3 guinea pigs does anyone know if they all can stay in the same cage.. and how big the cage should be?
@sandrabeck8788Ай бұрын
Depends if they are male or female. If you have both, you will have unhappy, pregnant females and a population explosion. Take them to anASPCA or someone who can accurately tell you the sex. Males have very big testicles, so it should not be too hard. Males also need special sanitary care of their privates.

im sorry but i have to debunk something here - domestic bunnys can survive by "only" eating gras and herbs - its the most healthy diet they can eat. feeding them only hay and pellets leads to digestive and teeth problems. Im from Europe - feeding your bunnys fresh gras, herbs and branches from outside is very common and claimed to be the best diet for your bunny.

It's so overwhelming rescuing one animal just to see CL have several DAILY inhumane posts for sales and rehoming. I try to flag as many as possible, especially the backyard breeders, but...there's no end. This all needs to stop already. We can't keep up with it.

Please don't misadvice people by saying a rabbit cannot survive on grass and weeds. What do you think wild rabbits live on. There's no-one to give them pellets or hay which is just dried grass you do realise.
@ThePigRoomАй бұрын
I was talking about domestic rabbits 😂 Not wild rabbits. Of course wild rabbits live off of weeds and grass
