A 3rd generator now. Crazy. Well, 4th if you count the original petrol only one. I do wonder if the flat-out 5000 RPM rev of the original DFgen could be addressed via a firmware change if EF got keen. 🤔🤷‍♂️

Good stuff. I was an early adopter of the solar generator bandwagon. Invested thousands of dollars. The dirty truth will likely piss off some viewers) is 90% of these batteries will be in the garbage in 10 years. I called Goal Zero about the cost of replacing the dead battery on my Yeti 1500 and was quoted $1000 with a trade in of the old battery. No thanks!

I think they may last longer than we think. All depends on usage and conditions. Plus the battery tech is already better than a few years ago. But yea these will need to do to recycling centers for large batteries

Pretty sure that old Goal Zero unit used NMC li ion batteries. Only rated for 500 cycles to 80%. Pretty much everything these days is using LifePo4 rated for thousands of cycles to 80% and even after all those cycles LifePo4 is still perfectly safe and usable. (just at the lower capacity) Doesnt suffer the same rising internal resistance like NMC does as they get near the end of their life.

I picked up the new River 3 as a UPS for my router. It’s very small and you weren’t lying when you said it’s QUITE! Something nice about the River 3 is that they have import and export kW/h statistics! I really hope they update the River 2 to have that as well.

That 12V 100Ah battery just isn’t worth it unless the price drops a ton or the inside is made of gold, lmfao. $265 is very high with today’s market. Have to wonder how much vendor lock-in there will be in the ecoflow power system. Seems like they highly prioritize that in their product design

Great overview Johnny! I kind of like that the generator just uses an extension cord and wirelessly communicates. The fancy DC cable was way too short. The variable speed is also great. Very cool.

Regarding the XT60i if you go in the app you can set the DC mode to either solar,car or auto. Pretty sure you wont need the special XT60i cable if you manually set it to the one you want. Any XT60 cable will work. I could be wrong though, but pretty sure thats how it works on my River 2 Pro

absolutely top marketing company, they are still white label products in reality with a 20% mark up for the name. but thats kinda like most things, have to research and find the actual manufacturers like many do with our phones. they are just a battery and motherboard at the end of the day :)
