Michelangelo may have created the Sistine Chapel but this video far surpasses any creative masterpiece done by an Italian man. I've heard of the skittles game but didn't know the proper name for it. Using Skittles magic would be fun but I wish they had a spell called "Taste the Rainbow" although in today's world that'd be a pretty gay spell. Space Raiders and Darkened Skye both have pretty cool cover art. I have Odama and I can't wait to play it. I love bizarre games like it. Pinball games can be quite fun so I need to give it a try. GoGo Hypergrind!! You were telling me about it and the... perks of it. I love bouncing on jugs. Billy Hatcher, I just picked up not too long ago. Gotcha Force I want so bad just to rub it in your face haha. The aesthetics of Cubivore reminds me of LittleBig Planet. Wonderful video buddy!

Wow, what an amazing compliment! Yeah, Darkened Skye (Skittles game) could’ve *maybe* had the potential to be something fun…but didn’t quite stick the landing from the time I spent on it lol. Odama is one I think you’d get a kick out of, but be prepared for a challenge! Go Go Hypergrind is a blast…jugs and all 🤣! Billy Hatcher is definitely a fun platformer, but one I really want to go back and finish. Gotcha Force is sooooooo stupid expensive lol. It’s funny, I had the same though about Cubivore’s aesthetic reminding my of LittleBigPlanet’s. Glad you enjoyed the video man! Truly means a lot!

There isnt any important dialog or text to follow, right ? Haven't seen anyone on KZbin to play the japanese release by the way.

I'd love to see a full review dedicated to Odama! Eighteen years later, it still seems to still be viewed as a strange gimmick, but the propulsive sound design, historical fiction aspect, comic book dialogue, and oral control scheme all contribute something special to Nintendo's legacy, especially as it attempts to instill an ethical quality in the 'Way of Heavenly Duty'. It's sad to say that it would've received a far warmer welcome on a SEGA console, since Yutaka Saito's Seaman at least garnered a Japan-exclusive sequel on the PlayStation 2.

Music kicks in, and in my head I immediately hear "Ready, GO". Odama still has a special place in my collection. In a dark corner of my collection, but somehow I still love it as well. And I'm surprised they haven't tried to bring back Billy Hatcher. Cubivore was to my knowledge never released in Europe, but I somehow managed to pick up a complete copy in a VERY good condition at a very reasonable price (considering) back in the day, and still have it. I think I paid about 45 euro's ( which is almost 1 to 1 with dollars I think). Quickly checking current prices, and wow... People have gone insane.

Haha I’m the same way with that Super Monkey Ball music! Odama is definitely a unique game! Challenging for sure, but fun! Billy Hatcher I can’t understand why they haven’t done anything with him. @@GameCubeGalaxy The Odama artwork and the big box and the sheer absurdity of the game also just make me WANT to love it, which may be part of the reason why I do love it. If they just said "here's a pinball game on a battlefield" I'd probably just have thought "...alright, weird, but so what?" and have given it little more thought. Yeah Billy Hatcher just screamed "first game in a new IP", but it also begged for the IP to be improved and continued upon, definitely not to be left to be forgotten.

Di you play Gotcha Force much? because you didn't mention the fact that you can unlock and play as almost every single enemy you fight including things like a giant space ship that takes up a significant portion of the entire map and lets you shoot lasers at everyone from above. In a way the jankiness comes from the extreme amount of things you can play as, that level of character choice comes at a cost in gameplay complexity. There are like well over 100 different things to play as all with their own move-sets.

It’s funny how the seasons change over the months and years of collecting. I have a lot of respect for the full set chasers/owners even though I’ve never aspired to it myself. With GameCube, I stopped at 112 titles and will likely let about 40 go. My priciest purchase was Path of Radiance. Now, I’m happy to have whatever games I’ll play or at least are most iconic across generations 5 and 6. I love how we’re all becoming amateur historians and scholars of sorts for those eras, and that’s why full set collectors are so great in the community. More power to those who have the money, time, and drive to complete a set-and hopefully share lots of content about it! I certainly can respect it and know all too well how fun goals make collecting. Exclusives are technically based on region as well. Being during a time where games were region-locked, it wasn’t like you could easily import the PAL PS2 version of Space Raiders to play on your NTSC PS2 here back then. Since that was released exclusively on the GameCube here in North America, that was technically an exclusive for the console in that region. Hope this helps clarify it a bit!

@GameCubeGalaxy
@GameCubeGalaxy 2 жыл бұрын
Darkened Skye did release on PC, but in terms of consoles, it was a console exclusive on the GameCube. Space Raiders did release on the PS2 ONLY in Europe, not in North America, so technically, it was a GameCube exclusive here in the US. This was also clearly clarified in the video. I believe you meant Big Air Freestyle (and not Pro Rally) for the MX Rider comparison, which I actually stated in the video. It’s an enhanced port, which was, again, exclusive to the GameCube. Billy Hatcher released on PC and Mac years later, but once again, was a console exclusive for the GameCube. When discussing GameCube games on this channel, I’m discussing them in comparison to the PS2 and Xbox, the 6th-generation consoles. Exclusives to me are about console exclusivity, I personally don’t count PC/Mac and Mobile as they are their own things entirely. I hope this clarifies things a bit.

Space invaders really got trashed and its fame is mainly due people repeating what the few games reviewers said back in the day. Lets be real here. If they made a 2.5d representation of the game...NO ONE was going to buy it as it was the era of creativity. And if people bought it, they loud have complained again. Its a 2d martian shooter, there is no room for improvement as it is ! I think it was a interesting and good choice that they made it the way it is. The ending is stupid and the same for the 3 characters.If they made a final boss fight on that bridge with a tank vs spaceships and show a few more cinematics, it loud have been awesome . By the way, I think the US and probably the EU got a censored version. In the cinematic of those there are 15 sec missing of the f15s vs the big alien ship and destruction of the city. Also the mothership is removed from the intro cinematic and there is only clear sky on all scenes. Japanese version has the ship in the sky and f15 battle. Rumor was that it resembled independance day too much and were carefull not to get a lawsuit in America. Another rumor was 9.11 related. That last one doesnt make sence but dreamcast had a game with planes that aparently got canceled for that reason ( propeler arena) .Full rom did got released though. Japanese copyes are quite expensive of this game. I will try my luck with the Korean version sincevis made in Japan. Hopefully is the japanese version under the hood and not the censored one.

That’s interesting to hear the differences between the Japanese version and US/EU version. I really enjoyed my time with this, and admired the creativity to switching up the Space Invaders formula/aesthetics. Definitely a hidden gem! Thanks again for highlighting the cinematics difference, and checking out the video!
