My brother and I just finished this project in his 99 328i and it wasn't that bad! The larger engine definitely benefits more as it was an immediately noticeable gain, even without the tune! He ordered a tuned ecu and it was super delayed but I had an idea; remove all emissions stuff from the "old" manifold, make sure all the electrical is connected but just bundle the stuff up and zip tie it to the dispstick tube. Even the Disa valve is just flapping in open air. Guess what? No engine codes, more important no limp mode! I bet it will eventually ask why the hell there's no evap system pressure and pop a code but that's a temporary and easily erased code through his android head unit.

Glad you ended up going this route man! the m50 manifold does make more power yes but most importantly changes the power curve to be more linear vs the booboo m54 manifold which uses the lame disa to try and achieve something similar. It doesnt really feel faster prolly because your diff is still the same and is still limiting factor in its performance. I dont really think ive ever seen the same type of WHP bump 3.0s get from this mod .. the 2.5 just dont have enough flow. look into one of those china pedal boxes that allow you go full beans on the driveby wire throttle bodies, and while your at it maybe upgrade (and retune) to the m54b30 TB and maf which is 3.5in (unless your car is a 04+ then it will already have the larger maf) .should get you some more flow and maybe sqeeze out a few more horse puppies. anyway get better soon bro ( fistbump )

I can vouch for the 3.91. I just ran my first event with that ratio and it is literally night and day different. Granted I’m in an e36 but I’m sure it would be spicy in your car too. Poor man’s supercharger lol

I didn't like the idea of the stock injectors spraying at the wall of the intake. originally, I ran a Bosch ev1 injector rated for 24lbs @ 3 bar from a volvo but I couldn't find dead time specs or anything like that so i was unable to properly tune them. I found some Bosch 12 hole multi-port or split stream injectors that very closely match the flow of stock. stock for the m54b30 are rated for 22.6lb/hr @3 bar and the injectors I'm using are rated for 22.8lb/hr @3 bar. i also ran the m50 manifold and m50 fuel rail cover for a cleaner look. i just used the return side of the fuel rail to add a little liquid filled fuel pressure gauge. I also bought a block plate to bypass the m50 rail mounted fuel pressure regulator. the part number for the injectors are Bosch 0280156151. also since I didn't want to port my head because ill have to return to stock manifold for smog there is a seller on ebay who offers a port adapter plate but you'll need to port match the m50 side with a dremel yourself. another note i have it tuned to use the electronic throttle body to meter air to idle the engine and deleted the idle control valve. i used the port on the back of the m50 manifold for an e36 style ccv and fabled up my own little bracket to secure it. on a final note i used my stock air cleaner and found a silicone elbow that reduces from 3.5" to 3" to fit the maf and straight on to the throttle body. ill probably post up a video next week when i actually get the new injectors and swap them out. if anyone reading would be interested in it maybe consider subscribing

I have an SLK230 Kompressor in my backyard. Has a clutch pulley Eaton compressor on it. Turns out. Fuck your AC compressor. Wire that supercharger with a switch, adapt it to mount in place of your AC compressor, and it’s a fun little setup. M50 intake, S50 injectors, headers, it’s for real pretty fun.

He was avoiding "visual" California inspection dings. It probably does better than most Cold Air Intakes honestly; very short ducting after a giant filter that gets fresh air from in front of the radiator... hard to beat that.

Fit a decompression plate,bringing the cr from 10.2-1 to 8.someyhing then turbo it,you can run 7-12psi on stock internals,and add another 130-150bhp.just depends if the cost is worth that to you

To be fair, the hose kit fits like garbage regardless of who made it. Buy the throttle body adapter plate if you can't find it somewhere else then get the needed hoses from Bimmerworld. Take SLG for exactly what thier name is.

The kit fits well tbh. I had to cut down the boot about a 1/4 due to clearance of my throttle body, but other than that it's good. Just overpriced.

The 3.46 diff is the worst one for top speed if using the ZF 5 speed manual. I had much better luck using the 3.38 diff. It sounds like such a small insignificant difference but realistically it was the difference between having a 130mph and a 110mph top speed! I had to have the car in 5th gear while trying to cruise at 40mph! So anything above that speed and my car was screaming toward recline! The 3.46 difference made my car feel like a 600cc sport bike with a giant rear sprocket set up for learning how to do wheelies! It made 1st gear completely unusable! Effectively making my car into a 4 speed (launching best from 2nd gear) The 3.38 diff found on the auto cabriolet was actually a perfect compromise.

Yes it smells. Overall it's better to connect it like in m50 - between maf and throttle. Tested both, under vacuum engine feels stronger in lower rev range

M54 engines (MS43) are VERY (VERY!) fragile in case of running anything wrong enginewise. I've started up my M54B25 with a monster vacuum leak ONCE and it was making from this (even after with proper intake-setup back) almost like 50hp less tille the time I've delete all ECU errors, reset all the adaptations and made all new. Try to do it in INPA. Your diagnosis cable can not do it properly. OVERALL I'm the opinion (beeing a user of M54B25 in E36, M54B30 in E46 sedan and M54B30 in recent compact) that the best simple mod (like you mentioned at the beginnig) is not intake swap - it is a B30 swap ;) One day of job and you have 40 more Hp and surely 60-70Nm more torque for....1000$? It costs something like this in europe. You had Micah a B30 in your missile coupe so you know the difference :)

blew up my 325i doing a 2-3-2 money shift when I was like 17 like 8 years ago & got a B30 bottom end for free from my dad's work friend & got most of the valves for free too. We swapped it in within like a week & I didnt tune it for like a year lmao It ran just fine minus all the decel pops, probs a lil lean & mean. but my dad is a BMW master mechanic so that was a major help with the work. All in all, deffo recommend & you can do it in steps. You dont need an expensive tune right off the rip if you are broke.

the m50 manifold swap doesnt have disa valves so its gonna kill off alot of midrange torque. your actually better off with a m54b30 manfold. I dont understand the m50 manifold swap thing, it just kills torque and makes it less fun for drifting.

This disa valve is bigger so it obviously accomodates more air. I don't know if you'd get gains without a tune and who's going to make a tune for that swap. M50 puts down hp numbers and is turbo acceptable. That's why the tune and swap is available. Nobodys going to pay and R&D for a m54b30 manifold to gain 10ft/lbs midrange in their 325i.
