If that's the Cloudray head, you don't need to modify the plate holding the head. The threaded part of the part you're holding at 5:58 comes off. Then a part reveals that fits the plate perfectly.

Your roosters had me cracking up during the video. I recently wired up a 24V LED into one of my 3D printers and noticed the same effect when moving the motors. It is a real issue. Apparently if you have a poorly designed board it can cause the drivers to fail.

Love this series! I've had my K40 for a few months and haven't done much to it - these are great, clear, adjustment that I'm looking forward to applying. I see you have the ma meter on yours - mine didn't come with one but it's on my upgrade list to add it as well.

I forgot to put the duct back in after working on the gantry and bed area. It seems to work just fine. But I may still put in an inline fan with better cfm.

Hi Roger, what cooling system are you use for a long term for your laser?

All caught with this series now. Did you change your mind about the additional vent holes on the front? I was thinking that you could just add a couple of bumpers to the top lip of the cabinet so that the lid would sit on them. That would leave a gap for air to pull through. Then another bumper on the bottom side of the lid, over the safety switch to hold the switch down. I haven't looked at mine to see if it's actually possible, but it would eliminate cutting any metal and be reversible if it didn't work well.

@@rogerwebb9600 Cool. I was thinking about doing it, even if it was just a temp solution to cutting the holes. :)

A better way to improve the air flow in the cabinet is to tape up any holes leading to the outside, like the one in the bottom, with something like metal duct tape. This then forces the airflow to come in only through the front vents and over your work surface. You can add in a couple of small 12V fans over each of the vents on the front on the inside of the cover so they blow in if you need more airflow. You may also want to add some kind of louvers over the outside of the front vents to keep reflected laser light from coming back through them and possibly becoming a hazard. I used some cheap aluminum soffet vents and just cut them to size and taped them over the front openings. This allows airflow while preventing any reflected laser light out of the case.

@@ropeany1 Are you referring to a bigger model? This one doesn't have any front vent holes. I thought about the soffet vents. I used something similar to get air flow in one of my blasting cabinets.....nearly identical use of air flow. The bumpers I was thinking about are only about a 1/4" tall, so I wasn't expecting much reflected light to escape. I went to your channel hoping to find a video of yours so I could see the front vents you're referring to. None.

@@bluehandsvideo Yeah I don't have any videos up of my laser unfortunately but it's the same size unit as in the videos, 40W tabletop model. Some of them have front vents cut into the lid and some don't, mine happens to. On the ones that do you have about a 4 inch tall front section on the lid before it slopes back to the window which makes a great place to add extra fans ( and where they put the vents lol). I was just looking at some ads for them and it appears they have done away with that set up but you could cut a couple of holes in the front of the cabinet, being careful of wires that run along the front, and put in a couple of small fans to help with the airflow. There are also a couple of magnetic mounts for small fans you can place inside the cabinet to help with airflow as well that you can find on Thingiverse that you may want to look into as well. I'll post a couple of pics of mine later tonight as I'm at work currently.

well a generator is just a motor that is receiving mechanical input and outputting electrical energy instead of receiving electrical input to output mechanical force ... quite literally they are both magnets and wire windings ... so yes you are correct, and those people are idiots.
