Lovely boat, and keep on with vids . No disrespect meant here, but have you thought about having a re-jig with deck space? Quite a bit u can do to make this run a bit smoother for yourself.

@@Wahoo149Fishing I'm not a commercial fishermen but have a much smaller orkney boat that I do the same with. No doubt a commercial fisherman would streamline things for you even more. Probably opening a youtube can of worms here, but can you reduce the number of boxes and swap their location with the cooler so your firing your catch down into the box, it seems as if u have a lot of boxes stacked high and you're working against gravity, could shake mackerel / fish into cooler then. Can your hauler go closer to the wheel house. I really notice the difference with things at right height as I hand haul everything.

Good ideas there thank you. The fittings for the 3 haulers are the same so I can change them round. I’ve left the power leads a bit longer as the forward plug is different to the aft 2. I haven’t tried the electric reel in the forward position yet as I usually use it in conjunction with the line/net hauler - but I will at some stage Thanks again for the comment and hope you are enjoying the videos

I would recommend getting a mackerel stripper box made, they are worth their weight in gold. Its too much hassle taking macks off by hand

Thanks Beanys Fishing - have thought about it - will look into how I can rig one

@@Wahoo149Fishing it depends how many hooks you want. Ive got a 21ft tactile. My jigging machines are both on the stern quarters, running to rollers each side of my splash screen then back to stripper boxes on the stern quarters. No hooks are running in the boat, I find it a lot safer

What would a boat like that cost new,now in your estimation? I don't think I'd ever need bigger as I assume they can be seafish coded and can go anywhere? I'm looking at a retirement boat (thinking about it).
@Wahoo149Fishing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, I reckon 35k new, although I’m not sure they’re being made any more. There have been some examples that are sea fish coded, hence why mine could get a license. This boat can fish in all Guernsey and U.K. waters ICES area 7 or even further if I wish The British boats are being made to upgrade to 300mm minimum freeboard so near that in mind as mine has self draining deck with scuppers close to the waterline (less than 300mm). Bear in mind license for 195hp and this boat is now around 30k, the fishing gear I have will cost around 20k so all up around 85-90k

With that winch type system of catching mackerel it's almost like netting them so a big feed is always guaranteed or for sale or bait 🐟

Thanks Colin, the larger shoals May move on soon, so good to catch a few while I can. One of the tastiest eating fish too
