I'm from Spain. Over the years, I've decided to listen to music that can make me cry. There are not many bands I listen to. I can't imagine what this song means for others, but they "struck a nerve" - I think that's what Tom Morello says about VoB, and this song definitely makes me cry. It's as simple as the best poetry, and performed with (their) soul. I, somehow, can feel myself close to a reality I don't know.

I think WACKEN OPEN AIR GERMANY 2022 already gave the "answer" by inviting VOB as special inviting guests artists band alongside Slipknot and other super bands to play in Wacken. VOB were stated as Heavy Metal Music have no boundaries by all metal head. VOB introduced themselves as THE OTHER SIDE OF MATELISM .. also as the title of their EP and their original song. Thanks for kind reaction to talented young Composer's VOB ❤

While I'm not the biggest fan of their music, I have mad respect for these girls. I can't even imagine the persecution that they must gave been subjected to. I'm not muslim, but I do know that there are various interpretations with the Muslim community on what's permitted and what isn't. In certain places, they would be killed, while in other places they would be accepted. What makes it even more taboo is that they play metal music. Even here in the US (the land of the free), when metal first started being played. there were many people who thought it was satanic and used in devil worship. There were even hearings in Congress on whether it should be banned or not. The Vice-President's wife (VP Gore) led the charge to get it banned. Obviously, it wasn't successful. My personal feeling is this. If a person has music in their soul, it will find a way to come out. These girls are a prime example of that. The bottom line is - if you like a certain music, listen to it. If you don't like certain music, don't listen to it. But don't try to stop others from listening to it. Just my 2 cents on the subject. Take care!

@@nesia17 I know that Indonesia is a multicultural country, On Sumatra there are Christians as well as Muslims. You find Hindu on Bali. I know some Batak from Sumatra. But as far as I understood Marsya, Widi and Siti grew up in a small village on West Sumatra where the main part of the population is Muslim in a quite strict way. Not as conservative as in Banda Aceh of course , but still quite strict. So it wasn't that easy for them to play this type of music. So that is what I meant - it must have been a hard way for them!

These ladies are stellar. The lyrics are beyond relevant, they are the new anthem of free self-expression. All creators in the Arts that think outside the presumed norms will attract provincial backlash. And it’s not confined to a geographic region. The fascists in the 30’s burned books, horded paintings that they condemned, but wanted for themselves. 1917: Satie's Noisy Instruments Provoke Equally Noisy Backlash Parade, the first collaboration between Erik Satie and Pablo Picasso, should have been an easy crowd-pleaser. But the score contained several "noise-making" instruments (typewriter, foghorn) as well as popular styles like Ragtime - enough to upset some of the patrons who got agitated and began screaming and yelling.. So, let's all stand with the creative minds that inspire us to be as imaginative as they are. Rb

I'm an old blues-rock player from Scotland. In my time I've attended gigs by Metallica, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Family, Cream, ZZ Top, Peter Green, Deep Purple, Ten Years After, Rival Sons, Neil Young and many others. I've also been following VoB for the past three years. You queried what the experience of metal is in non-Muslim countries. While it's not persecuted here in Scotland it has pariah status and remains something of an 'underground' interest. It's rarely reported in the music press (other than those periodicals specifically dedicated to it). That it's routinely ignored adds to the sense of community among metalheads and led to metal being an incredibly welcoming genre. The fact that VoB are bringing something new to metal in terms of culture, musicality, energy, conviction and a comprehensive knowledge of the genre and its many sub-genres would be sufficient in itself; that they are helping to break down stereotypical attitudes to Islam within their own culture and within the non-Muslim world is pure icing on the cake. Thanks for your very particular take on this band (you might like to check out either Kentut Merdeka or Kawani which I believe are their most ambitious pieces musically. Keep 'em coming!

of course between musics versus faith is still debatable, the fact Indonesian has so many female bands both hijabi-s or not, they got the spot maybe because of the outfit (and yess their skill are amazing not all Indonesia metal band can perform abroad and viral), the message is still the same, they have strong critics against corruptions, discrimination or even the presents WAR.. No satanic words be found of course. they just using musics as the mean of accepted communications to all people all over the countries. yet, metal music is universal, plus they played 80's and 90's metal band, yeay!!

I totally agreed with you. I'm not Muslim, I don't believe in God (but for me, if people believe and that makes them happy, it's awesome), I'm just metalhead, I love lots of different kind of music, people can be Muslim, Jewish, Christian or everything else for me it doesn't matter, I just want people live together and do judge others for what they believe or what music they like and play. I'm from Christian family (some are hardcore Christian), I have few Muslim friends including my neighbor, one Jew (they are rare in my city as far as I know), and few Buddhists since my early age, sometimes we gently roast each other, but we know it's friendly roast. In my entourage, I'm the only one who like metal, my best friend like US Rap, other likes more electro music, we don't judge, everybody is allowed (in my POV) to like what they want to like, and to do. I know because of culture differences it's sometimes hard to allowed people to do certain things (especially for women) and for me it's bad, just my point of view of course. For me, we have (in the whole world) a lot of issues, especially now, it's time to move on and let people have their lives, whether it's women, man, whatever religion they have, colors, sexual orientation, etc. You look open-minded, and that's cool. Previews paragraph was not for you of course, just my general thought.

I am an old white guy who went through high school in a white catholic community, diversity was not part of the game. But in the last 40 years i have come to really enjoy and respect diverse opinions, beliefs etc. Criticism of behavior you think is 'bad' should be verbal absolutely NOT physical or more substantial rhan words. Many people can't limit themselves to words because their words are nothing to be proud of and they like to think of themselves as being more powerful and certainly not wrong. Certainly the actions of those brave individuals who confront bias directly is wonderful, but equally important is the support for them from those like yourself who are a respected voice in the media. How can you direct your thoughts to the music police in a way that they might hear you?? As an American it is easy to be critical of Middle Eastern Muslim responses to something different but let's replace "middle Easeern Muslim" with American "wokism". Consider the number of people who have lost their jobs because they dared to express an opinion or belief contrary to Woke directive, especially when the organizational enforcement is probably driven more by marketing than beliefs. Good luck tring to influence the thought police. The problem is not just in your country. On a lighter note your camel always brings a smile to my face, with the result that i watch the video to the end. Good marketing!

to look this let's think, the basic law of music in islam is netral, like other tools such as knive, sword, money, and stuff, depending on whos using it, knive or sword becomes haram because it is used to kill people, but if you use it for cutting cucumber it becomes halal, so does the music, if you playing the music and it makes you drunk or makes you dont do pray of course it is haram, but if you play music to give good message and spread happines, of course it is part of ibadat, so we must smart, because not all sheikh says music haram some says it is allowed depend the content of the music
