Sooooooo, did anybody mention how Undertale had many similarities with Touhou: Subterranean Animism ? Both start out with the human protagonist falling into a hole and discovering an hidden capital underground filled with monsters that were chased from the overworld because of their fearful powers. The human protagonist then crosses a bridge and wanders upon a snowy town filled with lively people. Later, they head off for a strange palace, home of the ruler of the underworld/Hell's manager. They then try to stop the final boss who seeks to destroy the entire world after fusing with the humans' souls/Eating a sun God. And both game have two siblings characters with one of them being the hardest boss in their respective games. (Sans/Koishi)

For the record, that one was originally one of Patchouli's spell-cards back in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil if you played as Reimu B during an Easy or Normal mode run. But it's more likely that Undyne's name was more of a reference towards the myth of the water nymph "Undine" rather than the spellcard. Still pretty funny to imagine Undyne as a princess though. :P (A really deadly princess considering how much of a pain that spellcard is.)

In response to the Yume Nikki part, I think that Frisk's design could've been slightly inspired by Madotsuki, since they both have the black-lines-as-eyes thing going, as well as rarely changing their facial expressions and normal behavior, even in the more dangerous parts of both games. Another thing I'd like to say is that Chara could've been partially inspired by Monoe (Also from Yume Nikki), since they both have rather similar smiles, and also that they're two of the few characters in both games to somewhat resemble their protagonist (Chara to Frisk, and Monoe to Madotsuki). I'd also say that Napstablook resembles more like the purple ghosts in the Forest World, rather than Kyuu-Kyuu Kan.

Similarities between Undertale and Touhou Frisk and Chara have very similar designs to Satori Komeiji and Koishi Komeiji from Touhou 11, even their abilities match, Frisk can save, and if s/he dies s/he remembers the dialouge, kind of similar to Satori's mind reading ability. As for Chara, she can be described as a maniac, which fits Koishi's personality, not only that, but Koishi can manipulate the subconcious mind, making you move at her will without you realizing, similar to how Chara takes control of Frisk at times. Koishi is also unnoticable, unless she specifically allows someone to notice her. Similar to how Chara goes along with Frisk unnoticed for the most part. Another one from Touhou 11, Muffet is a spider who lives in a cave. In Touhou 11, Yamame Kurodani is a spider who lives in a cave. In Snowdin bridge, (The one after you fight Greater Dog) Papyrus becomes jealous, and rejects not being able to activate the trap due to him being peauciful, similar to the bridge princess/guardian Parsee Mizuhashi, driven insane by jealousy The Former Capital of The Blazing Hell and Snowdin are very similar in design In The Former Capital, Theres a youkai named Yuugi Hoshiguma being extremely strong, enough to destroy buildings with a punch, similar to Undyne (maybe Undyne isn't as strong but she lifts boulders) Patchouli Knowledge's Princess Undine, and Satori's spellcard in Touhou 11 with Marisa B characters, are both names Princess Undine The Earth Spirit Palace from Touhou 11 has the same design as the Judgement Hall except its tiled with purple and reddish colors Asgore's Theme is very similar in beats along with the melody to Sepette for the Dead Princess (and the bass is the same but slowed down a small bit) Asriel's Design (Toriel's too) is very similar to Sariel from Touhou 1 (Similar name too) Marisa Kirisame's attacks are very similar to Asriel's (I don't know which Touhou game it was) The Core in Undertale is a weaker version of the Nuclear Fusion Reactor from Touhou 10.5 and 12.3, and the Nuclear Furnace where Utsuho Reiuji fight happens as the final boss in Touhou 11 Sans's Gaster Blasters look like the vengeful spirits Rin Kaenbyou uses Photoshop Flowey's WARNING screen is similar to Utsuho Reiuji's WARNING before an attack that creates a star or features nuclear fusion and they are both the final boss, excluding the extra stage boss, which would convert to Asriel in Undertale Tsunderplane's hat is very similar to Yukari Yakumo's hat as listed in the video The music similarities between Hartmann's Youkai Girl from Touhou 11 and Kindness soul's part in Your Best Nightmare The music similarities between Bad apple, and Justice soul's part in Your Best Nightmare Both Touhou 11 and Undertale take place in a place called Underground Sakuya Izayoi (Maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion) says the paradise should definitely be warm to Chen in Touhou 7 [A bad omen cat] which is the passive aggressive form of "should be burning in hell" as sans says it (Sakuya probably didn't say hell in order to be mannered expected from a maid, which is also the reason she doesn't kill Marisa and Reimu instantly by speeding time up with a bouncing knife in it) Sakuya Izayoi has very close ties to Remilia similar to sans's bonds to Toriel and Asgore Sans' ability to stop time and manipulate space is also a similarity between Sakuya and sans. One thing I really noticed was the yellow flower, featured both in Toriel's home and other places in Undertale, in mother 3 sunflowers play a role relating to Hinawa and certain scenes. Also Flowey's sprite resembles the flowers found in Magicant in Earthbound. Asriel is called crybaby a couple times, and while the striped shirt of Frisk has already been mentioned in regards to Ness, it's notable that in Mother 3 Lucas is also called a crybaby more than a few times, and wear a striped shirt just like Asriel does. The dog in Undertale is said to be Toby Fox' "avatar", in Earthbound there's a dog in a drug store apparently possessed by the game designers. This one I've seen being talked about a lot, but Mt. Ebott is a reference to Mt. Itoi from Mother 1, where the mountain is named after the maker of the game. Ebott is Toby mirrored and edited a bit

Glad you covered more Homestuck... But yeah, I think there might be more. One example is that Snowdin is similar to Jade Harley's medium, both are covered in snow and they both have an obsession with Christmas... Also Waterfall (or wetland (idk, I should replay Undertale)) looks a lot like John Eggberts medium, has lots of glowing mushrooms, and has inhabitants that want to see real stars but cannot die to something blocking the sky... I've heard of some more, but I can't recall them.

I'm a little surprised the video didn't mention this. The words "but no one came" come up a few different times in Undertale, usually with some emotional weight attached. It comes up in the final battle with Flowey after Flowey mockingly suggests that you call for help, and during the backstory of the fallen child when you're going through New Home. In Earthbound, some enemies can call for help to summon more enemies to the field, but if it doesn't work, the text box will say "But no one came."

I guess someone pointed it out already but Waterfall really looks like another land from Homestuck, the land of Wind and Shade. It even has the glowing mushrooms. Plus, deep in the land there is a piano/organ in the way to Typheus' palat where the character (John) has to play a certain song in order to clean out the land's sky. It somehow reminds me pf the piano puzzle in Waterfall. (this is just a theory though)

To say nothing about most of Asriel Dreemurr's attacks being based on Touhou attacks. Only Chaos Saber and the projectiles he fires as the God of Hyperdeath aren't to some degree. Star Blazing and Galacta Blazing are based on Magic Sign "Milky Way", Shocker Breaker and Shocker Breaker II are based on Light Sign "Earthlight Ray", Chaos Buster and Chaos Blaster have are partially based on Love Sign "Master Spark", Hyper Goner is based on "Subterranean Sun", and the final laser attack Asriel uses could feasibly be based on Love Sign "Wide Master". All but one of these spell cards belongs to a single character, that being Marisa Kirisame (Subterranean Sun is instead used by Utsuho Reiuji).

I know super paper Mario was in the last one but I found another connection between characters that was interesting Asgore and Count Bleck are very similar for many reasons 1: They're both villains who redeem themselves in the end 2: Neither of them actually want to be evil, but do bad things because they feel they have to. Bleck feels like he has to destroy all worlds to fulfill a prophecy, and Asgore feels that killing the humans and destroying humanity is the only way to truly free monsterkind, even though he feels no true disdain for humans. 3: They were both tipped off by the loss of a loved one. In Bleck's case, it was Timpani, and with Asgore, it was his son, Asriel. 4: They were both betrayed by someone they once trusted, Bleck with Dimentio, and Asgore with Asriel (at the time, Flowey) 5: They were both rejected by their spouses for being evil, and were forgiven in the end (In Asgore's case, kind of. Toriel's still a little pissed)

Bleck gives his life to stop the destruction of all worlds, and in certain neutral endings (If you defeat Asgore after killing Flowey), he'll sacrifice himself to give his SOUL to the human so they can escape. There is also the possible inspiration of Undyne to the sea dwelling trolls in homestuck as they are both humanoids that feature fish like features ( fin like ears and sharp fish fangs) specifically I see a lot of similarities between Undyne and Eridan Ampora as they are both fishes who are hell bent on killing off a certain group of people (Undyne to the humans as to Eridan to the land dwelling trolls) also undynes primary attack is throwing blue spears, just like how Eridan fires blue harpoons from his harpoon gun..

Another little tidbit that wasn't mentioned in this video (nor the previous one), is the fact that there's a line in the Genocide Route that may be a reference to Ib, a freeware horror game made by Kouri. Now, the explanation for this contains spoilers for both the Genocide Route in Undertale and Ib, so stop reading if you don't wanna be spoiled. We good? Good. In Undertale's Genocide Route, whenever you "fight" against Monster Kid, the flavor text says "In my way." In Ib, the character Mary says this exact same line several times over while repeatedly stabbing a mannequin head (which bleeds, I might add) after she finds out that the character Garry discovered she is actually a painting instead of a human.

Other little references I found: When migrating towards Hotland from Waterfall, you pass a sign with its words moving right to left reading "Welcome to Hotland." In Earthbound, Ness & Co. enter Lumine Hall with a similar sign design that reads Ness' thoughts. Next, during the genocide run in Undertale, you have to keep fighting enemies in the area to receive the message "But nobody came." In Earthbound (as well as Mother 1 and 3), the enemy can randomly call for help to fight Ninten/Ness/Lucas & Co. but if said enemy fails, the text shows "[enemy name] called for help. But nobody came."

Well... i have a theory Chara is based on Sucre (better known as Sugar) of the indie rpg OFF... They both has an insane personality and they both talk formally... Also Sucre has a power called Parfait eu Chocolate (Chocolate Parfait) and when she dies she drop an item called Grand Chocolater... and Chara likes chocolate very much too. Other thing is Chara and Sucre has a similar design (Sorry if i has a basic english, i speak spanish...)

There are a few more I found (well alot of other people also found these i bet) I was looking through the Earthbound Soundfonts and I found a soundfont called "M.D. Seeger", now, I played the sound font and apparently, it makes that sound you hear when "THE BATTLE AGAINST GYIGAS" appears in the title screen, the similar one used in the Megalo Strikes Back at the intro. In Earthbound, there's a Police Man (well technically the captain of the police men) In Onett who, when you need to get past the blockade blocking the way to Twoson, says this quote: "At times like this, kids like you, should be playing Nintendo Games" and compare that to: "On days like these, kids like you, should be burning in hell"

Mettaton EX form and appearance is somewhat reminiscent to 80-90s Japanese pop star Kohiruimaki Koharu, especially how she used to style herself, seen in 'Together' and 'Party'. If it's true that Battle Against A True Hero is composed in a Chrono Trigger fond (and even if it's not in fact), there's another interesting detail: the track that plays just before the fight, when Undyne gets her determination together, is called "But The Earth Refused To Die". In Chrono Trigger, when you're defeated by Lavos, you get a special game over screen that reads "But... the future refused to change". I hardly think it could be a coincidence.

I think the most important reference is the abandoned quiche that you can find during the flower puzzle. By throwing the flowers to the far right, near the sign telling you you failed the puzzle, you can find a secret area. Here you can find a quiche on a bench. This was based off of Andrew Hussie tweeting about wanting a quiche, truly the most important easter egg in all of Undertale
